The man in the jersey climbed on to the stage, started yelling and shot the guitarist five or six times at close range, Couch said. Couch said the gunman also shot a bouncer who pulled him off the musician. looks like this is true. FUCK!:cry1:

Wow, shocking news.

Reading those news reports still doesn't make it sound real. Pantera were one of the first bands that I listened to seriously as a kid, I still have a t-shirt somewhere.

Terrible thing to have happened. I've never heard of anything like that happening before :(

Influential guitarist with the Metal band Pantera and more recently, Damageplan

 They shot Dimebag. :crying: :crying: :crying:

Wait, I never cared much about Pantera. :01:

I saw that on the news last night and thought it was just some shitty death metal guitarist. Great work ABC news not calling him by his stage name or saying why he was influencial to heavy metal music.

edit: Instead of shooting a talented and respected musician why didn't this crazy ex-Marine kill some asshole like Lars?

Horribly tragic situation, I feel bad for his brother who had to witness Dimebag get shot in the head.

Arm, there is zero need for profanities in a sympathy thread. Also please get your facts straight, the Nathan Gale WAS NOT a marine. And while I am at it, suggesting someone should be killed (in this case Lars Ulrich) is far to base to be here.

He wasent? But ABC news said he was? Or was Peter Jennings monotone robotic voice talking about something else. I dont remember my heads still foggy from that robotrip. :frusty:

And c'mon, Dimebag Darrell was a badass heavy metal guitarist. He would want us to use profanity. :w00t:

Very sad indeed. I listened to them in early high school all the time. My english teacher during my senior year in high school taught most of the band. Oddly enough, my football coach at that same school was taught by her and so went to school with them also. She always said that they "loved music" and it was "no surprise that they became famous". Again, very sad.

:whistlingThanks, Arm. I had heard about that but I don't know why it was used contextually in this thread.

I s'pose both were in nightclubs ...
