I am using Nero Burning ROM version 6.00 to back up my data to CD RW's.

I like it.

But I have found that if you use the multi-session / Refresh option it does not delete files that you have deleted from your hard drive.

The message box come up something like:-

0 files/ folders have been removed
120 files / folders have been added
20 files / folder shave been replaced

But if you have deleted some files from your hard drive they do not get deleted from the CD when you re-burn it. What this means is that your CD fills up faster than it should as there are now redundant files on it !

Also and more importantly it means that if you ever restored the whole CD there would be a whole of of files that you deleted copied back to your hard drive ! which would cause much confusion and time finding them and re-deleting them !

I wonder why Nero always comes up with the line 0 files/folders have been removed when it never removes any ! So obviously it should do it.

Any comments ?

Did other versions of Nero work OK ?

Or is it a bug they have missed ?

Thanks Muchsplt,

But my question is was or is there a bug in Nero 6.00 in this area ?

I am not going to spend time downloading a new version unless I know they have fixed the bug (if there was one)

I have version 6.3 03 (one would have thought that if there was a bug in 6.00 that they would have fixed it by 6.3 !)

I didn't install v6.00 because I heard lotsa people complaining it was riddled with bugs. Whether the problem you're experiencing was one of them, I have no idea. I do know that from v6.1.15 (the version I jumped to from v5.x) onwards there is no such issue for me.
Since you have v6.3.03 sitting there already, surely just installing it will tell you whether it's fixed, no?

nero is updated every month, it fixes common problems like yours.

Sorry guys I did not explain proeprly.

When I said Nero 6.00 I meant in a generic kind of way.

I never had 6.00 I have got 6.3 03 and it has the bug.

So I would like to know if anyone else thinks there is this bug in 6.3 or am I not doing something correctly ?

And what is the latest version Nero has out and have they fixed the bug ?

I can't believe that more than 22 hours after posting your initial post you haven't even checked the Ahead website.
Well, if you can't be arsed to even do that, this is my final post in this thread.

hey dickhead. how many times do we have to explain to you to uninstall your current version and install the latest. we can't help you unless you're client is up to date. each update contains minor fixes and upgrades. perhaps your 'problem' has already been sorted. now stop asking people stupid questions like what is the latest version because that's just pure laziness

Hey Smurfette and Samurai !

There is no need to get personal !

I just want to knowif anyone else had struck this bug ?

Is it a bug or is it me or my configuration ?

I do not want to spend valuable time downloading the latest versions of software (in case they have fixed a problem) I will d/l it when I know they have fixed the problem.

I have been in contact with Ahead's support on another matter and all I got was an email that they had noted my email.

I cannot find a changelog to their software so what use is their web site ?

That is why I posted on this forum as most members have quite a bit of knowledge that they do not mind sharing. You two have never answered my questions.

So I wait till someone else does.

In the meantime is everyone else in the world not deleting old files when they backup to their CD's using Nero ?

By the way any software company that needs to put out monthly updates needs to be questioned !

They vastly just firmware updates. To be expected when new hardware is introduced.

Look, you could've downloaded the latest version and know whether it fixed the problem by now.

Hey digmen1, are you and h121589 brothers by any chance?

You are one of the laziest people I have ever met on these forums. Do you think we tell you things for the fun of it? If we knew what the probem is/was, we'd tell you. I'll explain further...

The majority of users who use Nero regularly have the latest version 6.6.0.3

Now, you coming on here with problems with software that was released months ago is not going to be much use to use unless it was a general problem that was easy to solve.

The reason we tell you to update is two-fold:

1. With each update, many files, drivers and executables are upgraded, not only to support newer burners etc, but other bug fixes and changes to the way it burns your material, and
2. If you had listened to us in the first place, and updated your software as suggested countless times, we would have been able to replicate the problem if needed and see if there's a work around.

Seeing as you can't be bothered

I do not want to spend valuable time downloading the latest versions of software then you are just showing us how lazy and ignorant you really are.

A question. Have you actually visited Nero's website?

I cannot find a changelog to their software so what use is their web site ?

I found this within 20 seconds on reaching their website...

So I wait till someone else does.

Laziness once more

By the way any software company that needs to put out monthly updates needs to be questioned !

I think I answered that above, not to mention zapjb's last post. I'd rather trust a company that released updates monthly than one who did every 6 months (or longer!) especially when it comes to burning software.

What's the fascination with wanting to know what the problem is? Many users come on here with problems, and it's not always obvious where the originating problem came from.

No More Laziness!

Hey... I have an idea. Download the latest version and test to see if it solves the problem.

You can then come back and tell us your findings. That would make you be the one helping us for a change.

But I really don't care about this issue. You see I don't rewrite anything anymore. CD-Rs cost so little that it's not worth it to use CDRWs. Just burn and, when it's no longer needed, trash it.

Also I can see the logic that the files don't get deleted because it's safer than the possibility of losing data by mistake. That's what backups are for after all.
