HippyChik do you ever pay for everything or have you found the free world?

Another trick to get free things is simply to call large companies say your an artist doing a show there and there and you need this and this
they give you the name of the main dude - you write him/her a letter saying the same thing and 86% of the time you get a truck delivered and they never turn up at the show or want feedback

btw i live on the other side of usa free world so if you could focus on free things there mucho appreciated

Wow But I dont think I would dare do that lol.
I do belong to a couple of freestuff forums and I get my links from them. I have gotten some really good freebies and its always fun to see what you'll get in the mail box lol :P

honesty works the best

a friend artist of mine (and he looks a mess) walked into a hifi store, asked for the manager, explained he was an artist doing a show "there"(insert museum name) and was making a sculpture where he needed alot of hifi equipement working non working whatever it was just for the image of "hifi". the manager liked the idea - said come back tomorrow - next day he was shown a huge amount of working and defect hifi - and i mean good shit too not just crap. he told manger he needed to get a truck to get the stuff
he hadnot expected that amount one or two ok but not a "wall" of hifi's

of course this was not the first shop he walked into...

conclusion stories sell

and theres alot of stuff shops trash anyway
