The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications.


J2SE 5.0 Update 1 Now Available The first update release of J2SE 5.0 includes select fixes of known defects as well as a couple of key enhancements; support for GNOME 2.6 on both Solaris 10 and the Sun Java Desktop System and the addition of Intel's Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T) as a supported architecture.

there are 2 versions

1.4.2

and 5

dunno what the difference is between the 2 :unsure:

I downloaded 5 a couple weeks ago, I've noticed a huge performance difference in my Java apps. I'd recomend the update.

same here, plus it comes with an updated web plugin :D

and theres not really 2 versions, theres 1.4 (old) and 1.5 (new), look at the about box it's just like any other program version ;)
