as requested by RealitY
this guide will show you how to use PowerPost2000 (http://powerpost.cjb.net/)
its free, easy, so no reason to use news groups just to leech
(how do you think you get to grab all that good shit at server speeds?)
cause people upload it...doh! :P

anyway.....grab PowerPost from the link above
you dont have to install it, just unrar/zip and youre ready to rock

first things first....do a little setup work
get there by going to view > Program Settings...
(or the first icon in the tool bar, whichever)

http://img69.exs.cx/img69/5896/screenshot0014ig.jpg

you'll then see this tabbed window come up...
the first tab is the server info
(if you are using a news reader, you know what to put here)

http://img69.exs.cx/img69/762/screenshot0023gh.jpg

on to the next tab (Headers)...
here you put some personal info, nick, e-mail, etc.
note: DO NOT put your true info here !!!
unless you dont mind...oh...spam e-mail...loss of anonymity...etc
this info will show up in a public room, on every post you make w/PP2000
and dont worry about the Add "X-etc etc" stuff at the bottom, leave em unchecked
(they just muck up the posts)

http://img69.exs.cx/img69/8307/screenshot0033jb.jpg

next: Newsgroups tab...
you need to figure out what groups you may want to post to and enter em here
you need to set this up in order to get a selection when you go to post

http://img69.exs.cx/img69/8096/screenshot0048vk.jpg

now the Program tab...
here you can set a few more options
Default Max Lines Per Part
10000 is max, set it at that
if your post has 4000 lines and you got it set at 3000....
you can do the math :P

http://img69.exs.cx/img69/9761/screenshot0054zs.jpg

when its all set just hit "ok" or "apply"

on to posting...
select Add Files...

http://img147.exs.cx/img147/9017/screenshot0117uc.jpg

and then browse to whatever it is you wanna post
if its a single file, just double click it, for multiples, highlight em and then hit "open"

ok heres part 2 :P

youll then see a window pop up that lets you set the file info for the post
it will show you what your post will look like in the box under the data entry box
i have included 2 examples...the first is ok, the second (default) is not
a lot of servers will put out messages asking people not to include slashes "/"
it mucks up the way the server or the readers handle files or somethin

good:
http://img69.exs.cx/img69/7163/screenshot0093ax.jpg

no good:
http://img69.exs.cx/img69/8139/screenshot0083cb.jpg

hit "OK" then youll see the group list selection you set up earlier
check the box next to the groups(s) you are posting to

http://img69.exs.cx/img69/9067/screenshot0108cs.jpg

hit "OK" again and then youll get the main window again
(this time with all your files listed, and yes i forgot to make a screeny of it) :P
i'm probably already in shit with some people for making this big of a guide

now you just hit the "Post" button
(unless you wanna schedule the post, but blah, you figure that out)

http://img147.exs.cx/img147/5681/screenshot0121hc.jpg

you should now see this screen pop up:

http://img147.exs.cx/img147/7151/screenshot0137pd.jpg

and when everything is done and posted:

http://img147.exs.cx/img147/9294/screenshot0148df.jpg

happy posting :)
you have no excuse what so ever to be leeching now

ok, way overdue......
gonna be making a new guide here in a bit
current guide is waaaaaaaay out dated
when this was posted I was using an old as hell version,
the most current was released March of last year,
with PAR & NZB support

after I mess around with it some more,
verifying the NZB & PAR handling and such,
and maybe finding some more ways of posting to usenet,
expect an updated guide :)

-edit-
guide has been put on the back burner ftm....
don't expect it too soon :(

Could someone explain to me how to stick a request post up please?
I would assume that you would do the same thing he just explained, only with a txt file named what you are requesting...

BTW: Nice Guide, can't believe I never noticed it til now..

your newsreader should let you post text, and this should be in the main newsgroup forum
that's what it's there for, the stickys are guides, not help threads

anyway.....guess what?
I finally started messin around with the guide I promised 4 months ago! :w00t:
(or is it 5 months now? )

either way, it's gonna be a few days maybe
bugs

can't get the proggie to make an .nzb that'll grab all the articles posted ffs
it will get all the binaries, the .sfv, and the main .par2, but not the recovery blocks
of course this can be worked around, just make the .par2s before hand,
then import them into Powerpost, at the same time as the rest of the files to be posted,
but what's the fuggin point in havin the capability to encode the PARs then?
I had to have missed something, we'll see

and I thought that maybe if I waited for a while a new PP would turn up
nope. still the 11b version (03/21/04)

but the source code is, and has been for a loong time now, released to the public
maybe if I get off my lazy ass and install Visual C++ I can try out a few things
or maybe I can totally wreck a half decent app, who knows?

-edit- oops, I just saw Filliz's sticky on the .nzbs, with Yenc Powerpost :blushing:
I'll try screwin around with the domain shit (don't see why that would matter )

Nice guide, thanks. But note that Powerpost will not be able to upload using SSL. The following app will allow you to use SSL connection for uploading.

Nice guide, thank you.

I am using JBinUp as well, but posted a copy (with attribution and link to this thread) in another forum.

Well done. ;)
