Easynews:

Url= http://www.easynews.com.
Webbased= yes.
Price= $9.98/month
Monthly limit= 10 Gigabytes
- Earn 2 free gigs/month for every idle CPU. (http://www.easynews.com/cancer/)
- Earn 2 free gigs/month for taking their members survey (http://www.easynews.com/survey/)
Retention= up to 40 days(HTTP) |up to 45 days(NNTP)
- 98% binary completion.
Speed= No rate limits. Most Easynews users are able to max out their connection, even full 10mbps ethernet.
Posting/Uploading privileges= Yes,if asked.(Only possible when paying with credit card)
- Limited (500MB per day|have to check that first though).
- You have to request posting privileges by sending them an e-mail.This is to cut down SPAM posted to USenet through Easynews.
- No identifying information is placed in your Usenet posts. Your posts are virtually anonymous with all X-Headers removed.

I think that covers pretty much everything you need to know. :)

--------------------------
Maybe some people don't like the fact that there's a montlhy DL limit,but for me it's perfect.I have a 10Gig limit anyway through my ISP,so it doesn't really matter.But you can earn extra Gigs by taking their survey and for every idle CPU.
You also have a gigbank,which means that every byte you don't use in a month will be transfered to the next month.
I already have 51.00 gigabytes in my bank :01:

Another thing I like is that it's webbased.
This means you can browse all groups and download from all groups through your webbrowser.You don't have to dl headers this way.
The only downside is that it's not as fast as dl'ing through your newsreader.
So I would say the webbased dl'ing is only good for picturegroups and small apps and stuff.
If you browse through picturegroups,you get clickable thumbnails so you can see the pictures before you decide to dl them.

hey sounds nice
even though i dont like the limits :P :lol:
i am thinkin of gettin a paid server in addition to my ISP server
ISP dont have any limits, speed or data, that i'm aware of (or ever hit), but...
the retention is nowhere near what you just quoted
maybe a few days at the most :(

and oh boy, could i ever build up those rollover GBs :w00t:
thats a good deal, for me anyway,
cuz sometimes i'll go forever w/o even opening my newsreader
would hate to see all those GBs wasted :P

even nicer, hehehe
you know what their retention is just offhand?
or do i have to do the "go to the site" thing? :P
retention is what i need basically
my ISP keeps em up for a couple of days, thats about it
if it wasnt for good ole PAR files...

Ive been looking around for a site that a good list of comparisons but cant find it as of yet. Ide like to pin something later perhaps that has a good set of links to comparison sites, I did find one that is close to the one I had visted before...

http://www.newsgroupservers.net/

If you have more good comparison sites post them here for now and we could compile them later with a good title and pin it, something like "Usenet Payserver Comparisons" or whatever, open to ideas on that as well.

I stumbled on such a site as well a while back but I can't seem to find it anymore.
They reviewed the newsservers pretty much the same as I did here,and the list was pretty extensive too.
Will search for it some more and hope I'll find it again :01:

edit:
The link you provided might be a bit outdated though.
Looking at their Easynews review,the retention is really more than 25 days.
It's about 40 days now,and I've read on their board that they are slowly building it up to a retention of 80 days(if I remember correctly).

I 've used easynews for years. I usually buy more gigs before my 30days are up.
I only use it for fills or for archives i've missed.
I also subscribe to newshosting for about 3 weeks now. An it rocks. I have the unlimited account an i pull between 8 to 10 dvds aday. I can max out my 4Mb download speed with 4 connections.
I just cancled usenetserver as they went bad right around November 21st, an they would
only give me 3 days credit. even so, thier max download speed on a unlimited account is 2Mbs, with like 20 days retention. So I was bailing anyway..
I have used about 10 other premium news service providers an they all go bad eventually, except easynews. Oh an my favorite povider name "PigSnout".
I don't even know if they are still in business, but you gotta love the name

If you DL that much I can tell you a secret way that I download about 50 Gigabytes total for the 20gig Limit on my easynews account for $9.95 before manually resetting it and starting over. email me @ [email protected]

I used Easy News for a couple of years. They where a friendly bunch in their support newsgroup but their NNTP retention really sucked. I mean 10 days. It is good to see them improve to 45 days but I do not think i will be going back.

This I believe is incorrect they offer 20 Gig per month for $9.98

What's wrong with you people? Haven't you noticed this post was created in 2004...?....A lot has changed since then.
