laptop problem???

i have a laptop and a couple of months ago i upgrated the hd to 60 gigs and everything work nice until the screen started to flicker, i really did not pay attention to it until one day the whole screen just went black and i thought that maybe a cable was losse or something but i check it and everything was in place so i took the back cover of the screen and flash a light through the back of the screen and you could see the desktop and everything.
is there anything i could do to fix this or is the screen broken?

looks like your backlight has went, check the connection to that, since you said it started flickering to begin with, but i guess it probably is serviceable

i check all the cables and they are all connected

Just glue your flashlight to the back of the screen n' voila, problem solved.

Mabye check online for your manual, it will explain how. A simple Google helps too!
