DVD Encoding Prog.

Hey, my friends just got the Jay-Z/Linkin Park Collision course and the first season of Reno 911. We want to be able to encode them onto his computer...to where we can just play them off his computer and they be high quality...

What is a good program to do this...for free?

if you want to play them on a computer your not going to get better quality beside the quality of the files you downloaded.... to turn them into dvd's I use WinAVI does it in 20 mins perfect quality :cool2:

They ARE dvds...I want to put the dvd into his computer and be able to turn it into a file we can play off the computer...soo winAVI will do that too?

So will alcohol 120 rip the dvd and convert it? or do i rip it with the prog above to a VOB file and then use alcohol 120?...cuz i already have alcohol 120 so id like to use that

Alcohol would create an image of the DVD on your HDD - so expect a file somewhere between 3GB and 8GB in size. You would then need to mount the image in order to watch the videos.
Pop over to www.videohelp.com and take a look at their categorised software listings (you'll want dvd ripping tools); they have many user reviews on almost all possible software alternatives.

Ok, all I want to do is put the DVD into the DVD writer, make a Divx file or something that will allow me to play it on the computer...And I want it to be about 700Mb like JPaul said...so I have to do all this stuff...I thought it would be really easy lol..just like a program to RIP it and a program to Convert it..

I dont see any guides on the DOOM site that have from VOB to Divx...What program can I use to convert VOB to Divx?

I think I will try this one...you seem to be able to pop the dvd in and convert it to Divx...which is what I want...Is this a good one? Thanks!
