I'd definately go with the 9800pro. I think that's the best bang for your buck.

But I doubt that there was a 9800xt anywhere for under $200.

No one can find it anywhere ;)
I asked this question a lot and finally I got a 6600GT, its slightly over $200(AGP version, PCI Express is cheaper).
Its slower than a 9800XT at high res (>1024x768) because of the 128 bit memory bandwidth but I could not find a 9800XT anywhere.

i'd choose a 6600 GT over a Radeon 9800PRO

its only 15$ over....the card has better benchmarks than the 9800PRO

Yeah , according to what i've heard from many people the nVidia 6600 is the best value card , and i also read that it is better than the 9800XT ... If i have money i'll definetely replace my 9600xt with this card..

I think that is completly bull because I have that game and currently I am using a Nvidia Geforce 4 mx video card and at that resolution i get way over 125 fps. So they are probably lying about most that also I ran the game with full settings no tweaks maybe my card is just special? :) Also runs Halflife 2 demo 1024x768 with well over 40 fps with full settings so I am very confused.

If you look hard, you can get a Nvidia 6600GT for around $220 though the AGP version are a little hard to find at the moment. Just stop eating junk food for a few weeks and you'll earn that extra 20 bucks.
