Win avi is a good little utility (thanks Jonno) or if you're looking for all the bells and whistles, look for Sonic Dvdit (again thanks Jonno). Both work well and are easy to use.

:01: You're welcome :D

Yup, both good, dvdit is a bit ram hungry tho (not that Nikki would notice that with the nasa puter she has  ) , I can barely run it but win avi is a neat bit of kit and is easy on your system, also a bit simpler than dvdit I found, quick and easy :) (altho it still takes me hours to convert anything on this damn thing

/edit.

check the board rules.

I don’t appreciate the Edit I K E, I have the read the rules, all I did was ask if a Key was available, I did not specifically ask for a Key

Rule 10 says: “Don't ask for cracks, serials or keygens to be posted, you are asking someone else to break this rule.”

I did not ask for a Key to be posted

In just the little time that I have put into this, I have learned that know matter what program you use it is going to take a lot of time, especially for larger .AVI files
Plus to get the quality that would be worth playing on a stand alone DVD Player
You will need to have a very high quality .AVI file and in some cases 2 DVD’s to Burn with. (or maybe you have a dual layer DVD burner. Like me :-) )

I had a 700MB AVI file and WinAVI turned it into a 8.5GB file… Great Quality though!!

Just a few observation!

try running it thru dvdshrink you probaly won't notice the quality difference and it will get you back down to a single layer disc(dl's are so expensive still)

Well I have used WinAVI to turn a 717MB AVI File
Into two DVD files one is 4.5GB and the other is 3GB
I want to use Nero to burn the Files into a DVD that will play on my
DVD Player.

The Files are :

Video_TS.BUP…….8KB
Video_TS.IFO……..8KB
VTS_01_0.BUP……76KB
VTS_01_0.IFO…….76KB
VTS_01_1_.VOB….4,097,062KB
VTS_01_2.VOB……2,314,562KB

I tried to burn the first DVD with:
VTS_01_1_.VOB
Video_TS.BUP…….8KB
Video_TS.IFO……..8KB

It did not work the DVD player loaded the DVD but would not play
Can anybody help? :helpsmili :helpsmili

Well Ive used vos and it turns the avi into a dvd ready vob set in less than 1 hour for a 700mb to a dvd5 and the quality is quite good also. The software is currently freeware, at least the last time I checked and the website is at http://www.vso-software.fr/ if you want to take a look. If you cant find the app there you can get it HERE (http://www.download.com/3000-7970_4-10341695.html) if you want to check it out...

I hate to say it but your slightly confused. You have to put all these ""Video_TS.BUP…….8KB
Video_TS.IFO……..8KB
VTS_01_0.BUP……76KB
VTS_01_0.IFO…….76KB
VTS_01_1_.VOB….4,097,062KB
VTS_01_2.VOB……2,314,562KB "" files into the "video-dvd files"section in nero or it won't work. You will need a double layer disc to burn it if you don't use dvdshrink......open up a folder named "VIDEO_TS" put the files in it and use dvdshrink to make it smaller...

Thank,

I got it, you have to add one of the .VOB files and then the rest of the files:
Video_TS.BUP…….8KB
Video_TS.IFO……..8KB
VTS_01_0.BUP……76KB
VTS_01_0.IFO…….76KB

You do not need to add both of the VOB files and burn to a Dual Layer DVD
WinAVI can slip an AVI file into two 4.7GB DVD's, or any size you would like, very cool!

I tried this it works!!

the only problem I had was, my DVD player would only play the movie
If I tried to Fast Forward or Rewind it would freeze up.
Other then that i was very happy with the quality. it was a little better then Cable TV but not as good as DVD Quality.

After wasting 5 DVD's I finally got it :frusty: :frusty:

Maybe one day after a lot of practice i will write a tutorial on this.
