“This is something new,” says Charles Baker, lead attorney for StreamCast Networks, creators of the peer-to-peer file-sharing software Morpheus. Streamcast’s joint case with Grokster, another peer-to-peer network, is expected to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in March.
Another benefit to Cybersky’s design is that it’s purely legal ‑ at least for now. Cybersky doesn’t rely on a central server ‑ a legal fine point that sank Napster ‑ but will instead help users swap files among themselves. This has allowed alternatives to Napster, such as Grokster, to flourish.....more->
