I was burning files using Nero v6603. From the nero's browser window, I deleted or attempted to delete a "thumbs.ini" file that I thought would only be deleted from the compliation I was burning. After a long pause with Nero not responding, I used XP's task manager to shut Nero down. Then to my horror, I discovered that I ended up deleting several folders and system folders from "My Documents". The "My Pictures", "Music", "Videos" and other folders I created in there were subsequentily erased. My system is showing a vastly larger amount harddrive space than what I previously had. I can only assume that my system deleted everything as though I moved it all to the recycle bin. :frusty: :cry1:
Now given that and knowing that Windows does not truely delete files/folders, only header information (until new information is written over the place in the harddrive it occupies), is there a HEAVY-DUTY application out there that will allow me to recover these files? One that even dolts (such as I) can understand and use, and hopefully find a decent crack or keygen for? :helpsmili
