Wireless Router

I have a USB Modem which means that I am looking for a modem+router in one.

I found this Linksys which is a broadband router

does that mean that it has a built in modem? Has anyone heard anything about this router?

THe one you've picked does more than you would probably want for home use, but still doesn't have a built-in modem.

On the other hand, if you really want linksys this (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=4371473532&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=59951) does almost as much and includes an adsl modem.

If you aren't fussy about the make this (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=4371692449&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=82571) will save you a few pounds.

That is Ethernet not USB.

The modem is usb (aol do that). He wants to replace the modem and get a wireless router at the same time.
Still needs a LAN port.

I've decided to go with the Linksys in lynx's post, unless anyone has something negative about it. What I thought was strange is that it is called a gateway, is that the same as a router?

What I thought was strange is that it is called a gateway, is that the same as a router?I think they call it a gateway because it has all the functions (wireless network, wired network, adsl modem and firewall) built into a single unit, but it is still basically a modem/router.

The only worry is that I think the modem in the gateway is 8MB max. Do you think this would be a problem? What do most modems have as a max speed?

The only worry is that I think the modem in the gateway is 8MB max. Do you think this would be a problem? What do most modems have as a max speed?8Mb/s is the current maximum for ADSL, very few ISPs offer more than 2Mb/s in UK, and atm a lot of places can only get 1Mb/s (or less). Unless things change dramatically very soon it is unlikely to be a problem you will need to worry about.
