Hi

I am planning on changing my isp but everytime I look at the available options things have changed ... new isps, differing offers, capping etc..I am feeling a bit swamped with the info so I am looking for a bit of advice please.

I am based in the UK and cannot get a cable set up like telewest, ntl etc. I would like at least one Mb but might plump for a little more without going mad poss a Mb and a half or two Mb. I would like an uncapped service. I think that covers it.

Can anyone point me in a good direction please. Currently I am looking at Pipex but don't know if there are better offers lurking out there. :helpsmili

thanks in advance for any help you canm offer. I realise that this sort of topic comes up all the time but as offers are constantly changing I thought I would ask afresh as I am planning on chaning in the immediate future if not sooner :)

Yep. Check UK Online to see what's available in your area.

In any case I'm with Bulldog 2MB @ £40 p/ month ;)

I'm thinking of trying supanet (https://signup.supanet.com/cgi-bin/signup?_showbb=y#), £22.96 for 1Mb uncapped. I think TheDave uses them, maybe he can let us know what they are like.

i got supanet 1mb for ~£22 a month.

up until a few weeks ago i would have definately reccomended it. my brother's been downloading pretty much constantly, the speed tops out at about 112kBps.

in online games ive had pings as low as 25ms.

but over the last couple of weeks my connection has gone nuts. going about 2kBps, timing out, and randomly losing connections 50% of the time. trying to dl anything above 50kB is pointless.

recently though i've had doubts this is actually supanet's fault

Yes, I saw that, but I suspected it might just be to keep their advertising legal. That's why I PMed TheDave for the real facts.

Eclipse FLEX could be an idea

Uncapped, no restrictions.

You can choose a basic speed and pay for that per month, and you can order instant speed boosts of up to 2MB (subject to line tests). These boosts are charged per hour. See www.eclipse.net.uk
