Crap!! There are ants all over me desk. :(

Dammit I hate it when this happens, I don't have any Raid around. I've been flicking them around for a good 15 minutes but they won't go away. What should I do? :(

And is it true that rain attracts ants... or makes ants... um... show up?

EDIT: I found one in my keyboard... I tried to kill it but ended up pressing too many buttons, without killing it.

yes. it's scientifically proven 4% of rain storms are made of ants

 I actually am for a change.

:) My auntie taught me that years ago, sprinkle the salt and it deters em.

;) I was picturing you with a desk heaped with salt which would've amused my wee mind, but give it a go tho I'd put your keyboard on top of the monitor before trying it. I don't imagine salt's too good for the keyboard.

 I'm doing the 'Janeyspeak' thing again, where it's possible to even confuse myself.

Sprinkle the salt on/around your desk, don't actually pile it on.

Try sprinkling cayenne pepper power on the desk, and Borax powder in the cracks and crevices around your house. :)

I read that if you put a bowl of heavily sugared water on the floor, the ants will all be drawn irresisibly to it and drown.

I tried this a while back when I noticed a few ants around the front door. I went off to lectures and didn't really give it a second thought. However when I got back there were legions of ants making trails through our house and branching off into different rooms, the nest must have been in the back yard.

The first wave had all died for the cause and made a dead ant sugared carpet for the rest of them to walk over.

It might work for you tho'

As far as I know salt doesn't get rid of them.

But they don't like chalk.
So drop a box of that on them and watch the critters squish. :shifty:

No, if you draw a circle of chalk around them, they find it hard to cross.
Not that helps in the slightest.

#159 More on Getting Rid of Ants

This is Laurie Howell with "The GreenScene" and one of my most popular shows is the one about getting rid of ants, so stayed tuned for part two.

It's funny because you never know which shows are really going to connect with people. Without a doubt, one of my most popular GreenScenes is one of the first shows I ever wrote. It's called "Getting Rid of Ants".

Well here's Part Two. This is another natural recipe for getting rid of ants: You mix three things together in equal parts and all three ingredients are very easy to find. They are boric powder, corn meal & powdered sugar. That's it. Mix those three in equal parts.

Then make some containers out of foil and fill each one with your natural ant bait. Place those foil containers wherever you have your ant problem.
