i've already exceeded specs for the socket A
(i read somewhere that your not supposed to go over 300 grams)
my vantec hs/f was 384g (and that was fine even on a beat up socket)
my cooler master is a whopper @ 410g...seems fine...
zalman makes the heaviest i've heard of @ 700+g...they seem to think its safe....

you may be wondering if im coming to a point or just fkn around...
well my cooler master 80mm fan sux ass
and i just happen to have a vantec 80mm tornado laying around :whistling:
but its beefy as far as fans go @ 187g
(not too worried about noise, just want raw air flow)

so, i am guessing i'm looking at about 550g....give or take....
clipped on....not bolted down....would you risk it?

cuz i also got a thermaltake i can use, probably about the same wieght as my current fan
puts out almost as much air as the tornado (almost as loud too) :lol:

But what type of processor are you using? ya know if you had a Pentium you wouldnt have to worry about them weight restrictions :P :01: :P :01:

you know...hehehe....i think the intel sockets do support more weight
but so does the 64 bit sockets for AMD :P
i just dont have an AMD 64 :(

but yeah dude i'll be either here or in slsk
i have seen some trick CPU coolers for nice prices
and the good thing is they pretty much stay the same price from store to store
(just PLZ for the luv of GAWD stay the fuck away from evercool) :lol:

The intel ones have that whole lever system to hold the heatsink down.
It's a good idea.
All boards should have them.
