Has anyone tried this?
Is it possible?

etc etc

My mate 'upgraded' his xbox and asked me if I would pop his old xbox hd into his pc to give him a bit more space. I know that big hds are fairly cheap to purchase but he doesn't really use his pc enough to warrant it and has the xbox hd sitting around so figured what the heck. :helpsmili

just wondered if anyone else had done this?

Yes it possible. You must unlock the xbox hd first. Even though it is only 8 or 10 GB and (i think) its around 3400 rpm, its possible.

When a hd is setup to be used on a specific xbox, it is givin a 20-alphanumeric key that identifies that hd to the specific motherboard on the xbox. It must be locked to the key to be able to run in an xbox. Locking it also blocks it from being able to use it in a pc.

ah  .....ok

I may just convince him to part with his not-so-hard-earned cash and get a better hd.

thanks again for the info. you have saved me some hassle. ;) :)

If you can ftp in to his xbox and go to the E:\backup_linux fold and drag the eeprom.bin file to your desktop, you can use xboxhdm_v1.9 to make a boot disc for you pc and use the locking/unlocking tool to unlock the hd. You can get it with the xbins link in my sig.

ok ta ;) , but I think I am gonna go with the ''get another hd you cheap git'' approach :01: I still hate him cause he has a modded xbox and I don't

thanks Singaboiy :)

Where is this located??? I have already softmodded my xbox with the standard drive, but want to upgrade it. I haven't found the "xbins" link

Or you could just shoot yourself in the head and be done with it.
