new avg

i have the new free version of avg n it doesnt work correctly.everytime i start up my computer it says a restart is needed to complete update.what is wrong? do i need to reinstall?

Installed it for a friend last week, no problems at all. Follow Zed's advice.

I'd just reinstall.
When you run it the first time install all of the updates then do one restart and you should have no problems.
