1. Why do you need 2 floppy drives for?
2. Have you tried downloading the latest drivers? What's the make? Model?
3. As for the mobo, you may need to increase the multiplier. To do this you'll need to enter the BIOS on bootup, and change the memory multiplier to something higher. Please bear in mind, only do this if you know it should be on a higher setting.

1: are you sure you meant floppy? most board has 1 floppy header.

2: what exactly do you mean?

3: your board is probably not compatible with the mobile, either update the bios or set your multiplier in your current bios.

damnit...beat me to it...

14*133=1862 , that seem to be correct. but does it say that in your bios or are you guessing?

about your mouse....new battery?

133? Are you sure?

Two floppies in case one fails? lol

Then in that case you'll only need one installed to be honest. What happens if your PC had a power surge? You'd lose both in one hit.

In any case, you can buy a floppy drive for lest than £5 ($10)

i dont know if you were being sarcastic or not, but maybe its because the barton is 166

Well it seems to me that if you don't *really* have a valid reason for having 2, then you can't really expect a good answer to your post. It's like having two firewalls... sooner or later they're going to conflict.

No sarcasm. Was thinking back to my friends PC, but he must have had a Barton ;)

Did the drivers for the mouse work?

Have you tried looking in the device manager to make sure both floppies aren't in there? Maybe you'll need XP to recognize the second drive.

i think my mobo only handles one floppy because the ide cable i got only with the mobo only has one floppy hook-up,

slow scrolling is usually because of no video drivers being installed.
to scroll right you wil need to download/install the mouse drivers.

two floppy drives is pretty stupid but go into the bios, find the page where it lists all of the connected drives, at the bottom you will have to manually say that a second floppy drive is connected.

I'm think we've had a similar post about using an XP mobile chip with an Asus A7N8X-E board, and I'm pretty sure we came to the conclusion that they didn't work well together.

Can't be sure, but I think it was being built by bigdawgfoxx for mattesca, and they had to return the board and get an Abit one instead.

@Darkclown. Forget the second floppy drive. Whatever the reason you think you need that is wrong. You don't need 2 floppy drives.

Rossco 2004 has told you about the graphics driver solution for the scrolling issue. You haven't yet replied as to if you did try that or the results. Please do so.

I install new vid card drivers, new chipset drivers, updated bios and all, but the mouse still has troule scrolling and also my cpu speed is way wrong the bios say fsb:133mhz, and multiplier 14x, also it is a athlon xp 2500+ - mobile cpu, but the speed only says 596mhz. hope this helps.

Have you tried using another mouse, to discount the fact that it could be the mouse itself? If you don't have a spare mouse you can pick one up for next to nothing in a computer store, or even better a computer fair.

or another motherboard (one that's compatible with that chip..). The abit nf7 should be good.

Mr. Elmo

i would def. pick up another motherboard instead. The mobile 2500 is a great chip if you plan on overclocking.

P.S. no fair, i said it was incompatible first!!!
