Counter-Strike: Source Update Released

A Counter-Strike: Source update is available and will be applied automatically when Steam is restarted. The changes include:

Counter-Strike: Source

* Added Counter-Strike bots.
* Added new bomb defusal map de_tides
* Updated version of de_cbble to allow bots to navigate ladders
* Updated version of cs_office. Fixes minor issue with projector
* Updated version of de_dust2 to allow 40 players
* Optimization to the way that dynamic props are checked. On higher end CPUs, this can result in more than a 5% total frame rate increase
* Fixed bug where players would get twice the normal money at the start of a round
* Weapon models are now checked at startup to make sure they are within limits for size
* Fixed a bug that would allow a player to throw two flashbangs at once
* Added “motdfile” cvar, which sets the filename for the message of the day on the server
* Fixed logic that will automatically kick players for killing hostage or being idle for a long time

I could not help but notice that many people were worrying about steam being updated.

Hellboss thought of a nice method to work around steam updating itself. However it uses lots of 3rd party applications (for example steamengine.exe and steam.exe from steam-down are actually beta applications from Vavle). This makes the solution a bit ugly (no offense intended.. Wink ).

Since no-one seems to have figured out what the patches in ppatcher.ppc are actually for, I decided its best to make an improved launcher on Hellboss's method so no updates are needed.

SteamLauncher functionality:


* Play / Download all steam games like ppatcher V5.
* Prevents Steam from updating itself.
* No extra steamengine.exe, steam.exe, vb scripts or big archives.



Install: Just put SteamLauncher.exe in your Steam client directory (same directory as steam.exe)

Note: ALWAYS start steam through steamlauncher.exe, if started through steam.exe it will act like the normal steam client and it will update itself!

You dont need cracked steam. I have a patch that tricks steam into thinking you have the games. You can have legit steam, just you need the patch. Is there an Emporio release out yet?

There trying to stop people from distributing it, but i don't think they'll try and fix it. There just going to have to deal with it. ;) I do think people need to stop talking about it, if you have it good. Tell friends, but don't post it on sites. It only shows Steam that people are using it on a mass margin.

Alright, I'll give it a try. Cause I was viewing the Half-Life 2 thread and everyone was saying to get that one version cause its hacked/patched and everything. Then over here, get Steam-Down and get alll the games without any key needed.

Iv prob played about 3-4 hours in total, it would be much more but 410gb's worth of data being lost ad both my hdd';s failing didnt help to much. In a week or so when i get paid and i get a new hdd i'll be doing a good hour or so every day. I suck tho cause i never played CS before and it took me a while to figure out how to buy shitz :blushing:

It wasnt the hdd's fault, something i did that fucked the partion table, at the start of every hdd theres a little table that tells Windows/Linux where files are on your pc, i deleted/fucked with it so now no program will read any of the drives. One was a Maxtor 250gb and one was a WD 160gb.

Counter Strike 1.6 (as you refer it to be CS 1) is the original CS and Condition Zero is a version of CS with new gun models and new graphics...and along with that is CZ: Deleted scenes witch is a single player using the CZ graphics, and CS: Source is the recent version of CS using the Source engine (from HL2) most people think its CS 2 but its not its just updated graphics with source.. thats all

its an installer. Just run the program and it should install itself. Then run the program (you should have shortcuts.)

Updates to Counter-Strike: Source have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

New Map

* Added de_nuke with High Dynamic Range (HDR) lighting



Counter-Strike: Source Enhancements and Bug Fixes

* The Bomb (C4) can no longer be planted on breakables, movable physics props, or other players
* Fixed problem where players were not always “grabbing onto” ladders that were approached from above
* Crouching while traversing a ladder reduces the player’s speed (matches CS 1.6 behavior)
* Improved door logic to prevent doors from opening into the player using them
* View-smoothing is now done when going down stairs as well as up
* Bomb-related sounds play for everyone correctly now (not just the bomb-planter)
* First-person spectators are blinded and deafened just like the person they are observing
* Fixed incorrect bullet penetration calculation through concrete+grate materials
* Fixed changeteam exploit
* Fixed DX7 early prop fade-out
* Fixed rare player animation issue while holding grenades
* Fixed apparent lockup/hang due to the disconnect dialog showing up over the quit menu and hiding it
* Fixed crash when shooting explosive objects that would result in the shooter’s immediate death
* Opening the buy menu and equipment menu on the same frame no longer leaves the buy menu in a bad state
* DEagle no longer always plays deploy animation when starting to spectate its owner
* Non-localized HintText displays correctly again
* Added "mp_disable_autokick " so players with rcon access aren't idle-kicked
* “soundscape_flush” no longer forgets about soundscape entities
* Exposed VIP player index to plugins/mods



Counter-Strike: Source Bot Changes

* Several navigation improvements (jumping, ladders, general movement)
* Various CPU performance optimizations
* Bots are more attentive to enemy noises now
* Bots throw their grenades when surprised by an enemy correctly now
* Bots can open doors when attacking with a knife now
* Fixed bug preventing CT bots from hiding to guard a bomb defuser
* Fixed a few issues where bots were trying to plant the bomb in bad places
* Bots now break breakables they touch while stuck or crouched
* Fixed bots not knowing if the cs_havana window is shut
* Adding the “bot_join_delay” ConVar to delay bots joining after a map change
