Leaked EA Press Release Dates Xbox 2

A LEAKED press release from industry Dahlings and would-be world-dominators Electronic Arts has let slip that Xbox 2 will be hitting late this year, just in time for the next versions of Burnout and Need For Speed.

According to a filing at SPOnG (http://news.spong.com/x?art=8229), the next version of Need For Speed - subtitled Most Wanted - will be making its way onto Xbox, PS2, GameCube, PC, PSP, Nintendo DS and willl have a "...simultaneous ship with the Xbox2 platform."
The time frame certainly makes sense - we're all expecting Gates' next wonderbox before the end of this year, and the massive Q4 success of Burnout 3 would put it on track for a sequel same time, same place.

Thats not really leaking release dates though. Most everyone know it was coming out Q4 2005. Leaking would be saying "Xbox 2 will be out 11-14-05"

It was a rumor that it will be here this year. EA saying they will be releaseing simultaneous shiping with the Xbox2 platform, tells that for sure the xbox2 will be here this year. Instead of the 2006 like most people thoght. So its kinda of a leak.

Yes this year, but theres no info. Just a patent that looks like it may be for the xbox 2.

Am I missing something? microsoft has made it well known that it would be out towards the end of 2005... They even said it themselfs quit awhile ago I saw it on gamespot and in one of my EGM's and ps3 and nin rev early to mid 2006. This really is not leaked news.

Halo 3 will be one of the launch titles for Xbox 2 as far as I am concerned.

MS was shooting for the end of 2005. These news is more like a confirmation.

Xbox Next not being backwards compatible is utterly boneheaded.

It's one of the main reasons the PS2 was successful.

It Microsoft is also nixing the HD which was another Xbox plus.

The main thing going for the Xbox Next is that it's coming out before the PS3 and maybe the Revolution.

Not sure about backwards compatiblity.

The xbox will have 3 versions. One without a hard drive, probly just use memory sticks and will be cheaper. (suppose to be $400) The second will have a hard drive. (suppose to be $500) The third will be Xbox PC, witch will be a PC that can play xbox games :)

Earlyer launch isnt a good thing. Its cool that they are luanching first, but like the ps2 it will have fault first and the most. :wacko:

i dont think the xbox2 will be priced so high. The ps3 is rumored to be around $300. The Xbox2 will lose a lot of customer if it was priced at 400...no parents will buy thier kids a $400 console

You dont know what the compatation will bring. Remember the ps2 came first, then xbox came with the hard drive and network card.

The trick is that you can't come out to late.

Well there will be 4 to 5 months between them. Sony can learn from those months, and since there is no release date, they can always push it. Also launching first in most cases means bad launch titles.

Well there will be 4 to 5 months between them. Sony can learn from those months, and since there is no release date, they can always push it. Also launching first in most cases means bad launch titles.
Keep in mind Sony can only change but so many things in 4-5 months.

The basic guts they cannot change. Meanwhile the Xbox will be the only next-gen console on sale.

Yeah i heard that to, thats why it took so long to make 2, cause they made them side by side.
