I have been using firefox for about a year now until my friend told me about a browser called Maxthon. I was like wtf is that? :huh:. Then I went to their site (www.maxthon.com) and tried it out. After trying it out, I couldn't believe it. I think that Maxthon is better than Firefox.

What do you think?

I used to use Maxthon, even way back when it was MyIE2. I eventually got fed up with some of it's annoying bugs and have been using Firefox ever since. I prefer Firefox a lot over Maxthon.

kazaaman did you tweak firefox?

user_pref("network.http.pipelining", true);
user_pref("network.http.proxy.pipelining", true);
user_pref("network.http.pipelining.maxrequests", 16);

typ about:config and change the settings.

I've tried both.
Actually i've tried a lot of browsers.

They all annoy me except Firefox so that's what I use. I love the features in Firefox. :01:

Pipelining can yield some shittty results to proxies that don't support it. Even when it works I've not noticed much difference.

As for Maxthon, sounds like an infomercial and if it's anything remotely close to YourIE2 I'll pass.

Isn't maxthon just another one of those frontends that use the IE rendering engine?
Firefox all the way, baby.

btw... G'day shn. Long time no see.

I use Maxthon (formerly MYIE2) for the Windows updatepage, but because it's just another browser using the core of IE, I use Firefox for real surfing the net.

The IE core, by definition, would make Maxthon more suceptible to spyware or virii exploiting it since that's what the malware is designed to exploit. That reason alone would make me use FF.

Also tho' Maxthon has to deal with some of the issues that affect IE, for example in this thread (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/t89584-.html). Lastly the amount of plug ins that FF has available makes browsing a much more pleasurable experience, how do people cope without the adblock or bbcode plugins?

Oh yeah, there is the speed issue too - Firefox rawks :01:

I hve been using Maxthon for a while( started with MyIE). I have found only two problems with Maxthon. It doesnt support Google toolbar and its not as fast as Firefox. But is use maxthon becaz of the options i have. Tab options are far better than firefox. There are small buttons at the bottom in the status bar is very helpful while browsing.
