Every now and then you should see some strays walking on you lawn or around you house. If you start petting them and play with them alot, it will give you the option to adopt.

I didnt see any in sims 2, i dont think there is. ;) Singa, your thinking of the the pet expansion for sims 1.

100% sure there are no pets in The Sims 2

There coming out with Sims University for sims to, so we never now. I am sure at some point they will. ;)

There's a Mod on modthesims2.com that changes the RC Car for some type of cat, although i heard it's not very good...

Sims 2 University has something I always wanted to do in Sims 1. Run a boarding house, or similar. Assign sims to specific rooms..sims 1 was terrible at that unless you had a family of 1 man and 1 woman...use one male and female door to separate their rooms. Only problem is, they would glitch into the wrong room anyway! Stuck forever! Unless you blow that door down. (i.e. clicky click delete)
