During an Electronic Arts conference call with EA execs Larry Probst and Warren Jenson it was revealed that the highly anticipated Battlefield 2 along with the next console Medal of Honor game have now been delayed until Q1 2006 (April-June 2005).

Here are some more tidbits from the call:

EA execs believes that there is still a lot of strength in current generation console sales, even with the industry on the verge of officially announcing new next-gen console hardware.

In the calendar year 2005, EA execs plan to make the "nessessary investments" for next generation console game development, along with a healthy handheld console line-up for the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS, along with increased development of games for mobile phones.

On EA's recent purchase of nearly 20 percent of Ubi Soft shares, EA execs stated that they feel it is a good investment, saying, "We have nothing but respect but Ubi Soft and its management." While EA stated they are prepared to be a "long time minority shareholder" they also said, "We want to keep our options open." IF EA does decide to increase their share in Ubi Soft, EA execs stated they would like to do so with the full support and cooperation of Ubi Soft management.

Battlefield 2, the upcoming next game in the multiplayer shooter franchise, has been pushed back from a March release to a release in EA's first fiscal 2006 quarter (April-June 2005). Likewise the next console Medal of Honor title will also be released in the fiscal first quarter 2006 time period.

During the conference call Q&A, EA execs stated that despite the announcement yesterday of Take Two's semi-exclusive pro baseball video game licence, EA is pursuing the creation of some kind of baseball title although they declined to go into details.

Is there any news as to what this game MOH game is going to cover? The other games covered the European theater and the Pacific theater.

Gameworld?

EA is teh evil, so nothing they can do will surprise me, except possibly if they ever manage to do something just right.

MOH is getting pretty freaking boring. I hope this next title will have an "interesting" element then it's predecessors.

wow, good point monkeee, i don't think there are any games about the korean war (fps anyway), the only one that even comes close is ghost recon 2 but that's set in the future.

I think they should stop making WWII games all together, especially the MOH franchise. It really is getting old and the developers just keep pumping them out. The only new things they really add are new weapons and vehicles and missions. The gameplay is all the same, and it all has the same feel to it. Maybe they could just give them a break until PS3 or Xbox2 comes out.

Well what the fuck are you doing in this thread seeing as it refers to 2 games that are solely based on WW2 fucking prick.

Go annoy someone else 'asshat'

i think battlefield might actually be a step forward, unlike MOH.

it has new features like adjustable scale of the maps (not sure how that works but i heard it somewhere). commander mode, movie mode, more destructable stuff.

p.s. its not a ww2 game. it's a gulf war one :P

Glad I've managed to entertain you, Gam3Guy. And where else would I post my opinons about WWII games than in a WWII game thread, Samuri? I could create my own thread called "WWII games suck" but that would just be setting myself up to be flamed by mindless consumers who enjoy paying 50 bucks (or however many pounds) for the same video game with different missions and weapons/vehicles. You keep on doing what you like though, and I'll keep my opinions to myself about your precious WWII games.

Oh, and if you liked Asshat, Gam3Guy, try this on for size: Cum Guzzling Gutter Whore
It's not original, but it's certainly a classic that everyone likes.

1) this is a filesharing forum, a huge percentage of the games we talk about here are downloaded so no we don't "spend" 50 bucks on games

2) you'll be surprised to find that not many ppl are "intrigued" by the WWII games, only exception i can think of is Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30

3) Cum Guzzling Gutter Whore = ownag3

No, it's a different in the aspects that I mentioned, but the plot will obviously be the same, WWII, and the MOH franchise, in my opinion has made particalrly few improvemnets as far as other aspects of the game, like map design, and graphics. I didn't really mean to start an argument, I was just saying what I thouhgt about WWII games, and I think I'll shut my mouth because I just played Call of Duty at my friend's house, and it was a pretty decent game. MOH on the other hand... EA is just pumping out new ones every few months it seems to make more money. Money is good of course, but I'd rather have a quality game.

I know this is a filesharing forum, but I'm kind of thinking about console games. I haven't paid for a PC game in years, nor have I complained about a game I didn't pay for. :D

Agreed. EA is just out for money, it doesnt really deliver good games. Ubisoft on the other hand :01: . as for console games, i actually buy my xbox stuff  but for PC i always download (exceptions made for HL2 and doom3). You should check out Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 for the xbox, yes it's WWII fps, but trust me, this one is...."different".

yeah i knew it wasn't him. but he used to think MOH was a good war game, and i told him to get CoD. he didn't really listen to me. i showed him the pc version and he didn't take notice. then a few days ago we were in gamesXchange and he had enough for two games; mercenaries and one other, he wanted to get SWAT but i managed to convince him to get CoD. now he realises CoD>MoH by far
