GMail wont work with Thunderbird.

I read the google guide on how to setup a gmail account along with thunderbird , an email browser program like outlook. after feeling all the needed info, gmail email refuses to connect... can someone please help me, btw i have no clue how to set the email as pop :( ??

Edit: BTW may someone please tell me how to set up two different smtp's on mozilla thunderbird please ? I have a comcast email account and a gmail account , i want to be able to email with both of them. But when i try to email with gmail using my comcast's smtp i get an error message stating it can't email with that smtp.... :(

You can use multiple SMTP servers in T-bird with the Buttons! extension (http://www.chuonthis.com/extensions/buttons.php).

I did it with no added extensions.

When you go to the outgoing server section (in Account Options) click on advanced and then you add it in there :D
