Hey Guys,

This is probably a no brainer for you guys but lately I have tried to resolve an issue with my recycle bin and deleting files. When I delete something, it just vanishes no waiting in the bin for me to empty it. I have already tried the registry tweaks and they work until I shut down my PC.

So....can I do a "clean" install of XP without losing any of my docs, mp3s and progs that are installed?

Thanks.

you can do a repair install by putting the cd into teh drive and, after xp detects another isntallation already exists, gives you the option to "repair existing installation" (dont get confused with the recovery console which is something else).

note: You will not lose any files or programs installed, but all windows files/updates will be set back to the original version from your cd. (in other words, just go to www.widnowsupdate.com and update when you're done repairing).

I just tried the repair install and it said that it could not detect a hardrive. Hmm....I booted the CDROM then the HDD too.
