how can i change a bitmap image to a j peg image

in paint open it - then save as jpeg
or use anyother image editor and do the same

that's teh easy way.
for web graphics (anything small like less than 300x300) i'd use .gif or .png. But to get good options/quality settings with those you will need a professional image prograam like fireworks or photoshop.
