You misspelled download in the poll question. :P

usually 45 gb download and 55+ gb upload. my ISP always calls me and tells me to stop or they'll charge me extra, been doing it for 3 years now and so far no xtra charges

I'm only at 1-5 gb per month right now, not too bad for dial-up, but I'll be going to broadband again as soon as they get done installing the cable lines :D

I download about 1gig of music per day, and a few DVD-Rs a month.. so i'm around 50-75GB a month. Finding warez on fast servers, and having a fast connection are key.

04-23-2005, 05:15 AM
While I was on dialup, I was doing 1GB/month.
Now I'm on adsl with a max 12GB download limit, then 'shaped' to dialup speed till the next month starts so...
about 12GB/month or I won't be getting good value for money.

I know that probably sounds lousy to some of you guys with ph4t pipes, but it could be worse.
Some Aussie ISPs count both upload and download data transfer toward the monthly limits. My ISP only counts what's downloaded so it's not too onerous in comparison.

RPerry
04-23-2005, 05:35 AM

What connection are you on?
I've got a 5Mbit down connection, what is so hard to believe? I get 600kB/s, it's the upload rate that blows ass... max out at 45kB/s uploading...
Constant speed I get roughly 2 GB's an hour. I suppose if I never let up on my bandwidth I could do over a TB in a month...

You should see my binders full of DVD's.. :D Well:
http://img495.imageshack.us/img495/9584/dscf01795bb.th.jpg (http://img495.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf01795bb.jpg)
The two to the right hold 192 each and the one on the top left holds 330, but I have like 6 pages empty left. I've been just watching and deleting alot lately, as I don't want to have to break down and buy more binders. $$$

As for the MP3's, I have a mp3 capable stereo in my car so I don't don't have the vast amount of CD's as I do DVD's... (Thank god, I'd have no place to store them...)

I'm just your basic Newsgroup junkie with a subscription to DVDrs.net

four gig a day is my max- 2lines at two gig a day, any more than that and my internet gets shut down. course the interlan p2p is unlimited, downloaded 40+ gig in one day (movies and software when i got my new harddrive). of course I can't keep that up, run out of space and things to download. 100-200 gig a month. there are a couple of monitoring programs out there. go on some shareware download site like Majorgeeks or download.com and look under system tools or internet tools or something like that. you will probably find several different programs that will do that.

between 100gb and 200gb a month.

All really depends on whats out there, I have always got something or other running on a public tracker while I use private trackers to get the stuff I want quick.

Remember don't waste your bandwidth uping to public, cap it and use it for your private trackers. Its every man for himself on the public sites.

It depends on the month. LAtely I've had to empty my hard drives because they both got maxed (450 gigs total), so I've been going light on torrents while the DVD burner went at it. The month or two before that was when I actually DID that downloading though, so it really fluctuates.

for me it all depends on what I need. I can download less then 1GB some months and over 100GB another. One problem I have is limited hard drive space and a computer that loves to crash. Although I normally do not use bittorent, when I do I tend to upload so much that it is not even funny (50-100GB a day). Because of this I tend to avoid bittorent at all cost because I like having a computer that can run ( uploading at thoses speeds with my computer brings it to a crawl). Also I do not cap my speeds, because it tends to slow me down when I even put a cap of 5MBs.

I download soooo much music each month! Hundreds of songs, not so much movies or TV shows, but tons of music. What downloading program does everyone use?

I just started out using Napster. I first would just buy their songs individually, but now I use their unlimited subscription service on a monthly basis. Their NapsterLinks are pretty cool, cause you can send songs to people just through a hyperlink and they can listen 5 times free--are there any other services people recommend? Or does anyone else use Napster also?
