Since the grfx world here is so dead i decided to try them, to see how well my photoshopping skills stand....
I submitted 2 pics in cheasy competitions - i got D- and C+ so far
but so far ive worked out that
-Submt your picture at the last moment - cause then it gets put at the begining of the list of pics - people are still enthusiastic in the begining....plus if someone has done a similar idea..which may happen (of course)...yours will come first.
-try to make your pc longer than wider - since they have a 500pxl width constraint but not on hight - hence you pic will be bigger (detail) in "preview" mode
i just started tere 3 days - man its complicated and competitative.

yeah, there's some mighty awesome talent there! I'm a member, though I don't submit. I can't even compare...so I don't even try. I always enjoy seeing what others can do, though.

nope...never given $, which is another reason I don't participate. I ain't paying to submit work. :(

Usually when I vote I do just like what you said - 10 = awesome, 5 = middle of the road, 1 = poor. I try not to vote unless I'm going to go through the whole batch of submissions, so I guess I don't vote often.

I agree there is no way im paying anybody for my creativity
i have 6 credits left - i aim at making a "goal" (aka 100credits) before that time, just to see.
The submitting thing is quit addictive though, cause you see it votes come in - sort od stock exchange style.
If onlly "real" artists got direct feedback in values like this.
but obviously that place has its style, heroes, standards and if you stay there too long
it will affect your style & ideas.
There are some real pro's there though.

you get 10 when you start then you have to be "lucky"
