Why does the forum take so long to change between posts and threads etc? It was taking that long last night that it was 'timing out'. It eventually went down altogether and i could not get back on till this aftwernoon. It is not just a recent thing. It has been going on for a few months. :(

Last night we switched servers so there was some minor downtime. As for this being a long term thing, I don't think so. I am on dialup and it loads faster then most of the forums I goto.

Does anyone else have problems?

Yes. I have noticed the same thing. I click a thread and the screen stays blue for a while before the page appears. It's been like this, on and off for at least a month.

It's fast right now.

By along time, do you mean 5 seconds, or longer?

Yes. Sometimes as much as 15 seconds or more. Sometimes reloading the page makes it faster, sometimes not. And it has nothing to do with the contents of a thread. I get the same thing when going from one section to another.

I've actually found this as well, slow load times. Right now it doesn't seem to be bad, but there have been times when you click a thread and it's 10-15 seconds to load.

I cant remember the last time I saw any slow down oddly...

no problems right now but last night at random times it would give me sql errors and sometimes page cannot be found, and sometimes it just took about 15-20 seconds for pages to load.

I think it may be something to do with the local server. I dont know.
I have a fast computer and I am on broadband. It is taking from 45 seconds to 81 seconds to change Posts/Threads. Short of just switching off I dont
know what the answer is. :(

With me its been almost as if it is pausing half way through loading and then suddenly loads all the page together at once.

I have just been 'fiddling' about with different skins. The default skin seems to be ok. So maybe the skins are the problem. :)

it was hanging on some google ads I think, I disabled them and haven't had any slow downs.

it was something like pageread2.googlesyndication.com/684753753573653636842bla.bla.bla

It could be a glitch in the matrix.

Mines intermediate sometimes the pages are quick sometimes the blue page hangs there for a while.

My speed comes and goes! Fast one nite , slow the next . Using Firefox with tweaks. Does n't matter if I clean cache , cookies or not either. Something I can live with , I guess .

Yes but some members might not be as tolerant as you. Those members could leave. I wonder how many have already left from frustrations with the board.

I'm still checking this out. I think it may have something to do with the skin. Are those with probelms using the chromo skin? As for people leaving, all forums have slow times and overall I think the spped of this place is pretty good.

Good point VB , its almost like being on "DIAL UP " at times . Can be frustrating no doubt . Could be the reason for so many double post's lately as well ! :) I'm sufferring right now by the way . :(

I am sorry but it is now reaching an unacceptabe level. It is taking over 50 seconds to log on. Over 50 seconds to change threads/posts. :(

I have an
AMD Athlon 64 - 3000 +
128MB Video Memory.

I am on Broadband. The only forums I am getting this type of trouble on are 'The Club' and this one. :(

Could someone please E-Mail me when it is all sorted out. Thank you. :)

It's not that slow here.

I might notice a slight lag compared to some other boards from time to time, but it isn't very cumbersome or anything.

Are you using a proxy or something, boab?

bigboab
02-12-2005, 10:24 PM
I haven't enough hair to use that proxy stuff. Those are the only two forums I have trouble with all the other ones are fast. Including a 'very' large forum. :) I should imagine that rules out a fault at my end of the situation.

The only problem could be the amount of individual items required to be loaded at each operation. The problem did not occur till about a couple of months ago. Both forums at the same time.

It is really frustrating Snny. Its frustrating me too.  (Bad usage or non usage of punctuation. time for more pills.) :)

That's strange, I don't think it's a server thing, 'cos they aren't on the same server as far as I know.

And the software is different too.

Have you tried blocking all the ads and that kind of thing. On one board I kept getting slowdowns, until I blocked the ads, it was some kind of script-thing used in the ads that didn't agree with my browser.

Have you tried another browser, like firefox if you are using ie?

bigboab
02-12-2005, 11:07 PM
Just changed over to Firefox. Appears a bit faster. But that could be just wishful thinking. Might be Pipex that is the problem. Trouble is I dont pay for it.

To be honest I am not sure of the exact server specs. We moved it so much in the last 6 months. Right now it is on a decicated server and is part of a VDS (virtual dedicated server - just for the domain)

very slow....I am currently only member on this thread
and it takes a long time between pages...this trend did start about
a month ago...I have noticed hang times in "appearance" , but I
discounted it as those in charge of forum making adjustments...
someone needs to check basic setup. it is probably something very minor.
