quorn mince-meat

my mum got some quorn mince-meat as it says 3% fat and she's a woman.

i tried explaining to her that its soya nonsense but she wouldn't listen.

anyway she made it up, and on serving it looked kinda wierd. the gravy was sort of black, well darker than usual.

anyway the eating was worse. its smells like a corn silo and tastes like soap :huh:

verdict: you veggies can keep it

Quorn mince is tasteless, only flavoured with whatever you cook it in. People buy it for the texture and nutritional value, then prepare it to suit their palate.


If it tasted of soap it probably means that it wasn't cooked properly.

Quorn is okay. I eat it occasionally.

Quorn mice does not create its own gravy, the only reason it would be black would be it it was burnt by a bad cook. Like Manker suggestssoya takes on the flavour of whatever its cooked with. Maybe it was cooked for too long? Quorn takes a lot less time to cook than meat because there is no need to maintain a heat level to kill of microbiotic entities.

there was two stock cubes and various vegetables but they couldn't help the crapness of the "meat"
