tomshardware or someone did that once and there's wasn't hooked on either.

There might be a slight possibility that they aren't faking it, I'm not sure how ceramic cracks under high temps, but it's possible that it explodes like that, and they seem to be setting the clockspeed from inside windows, so i guess they could have kept it very low, then just entered the speeds and pressed enter.

But, I think it's fake too, there should be just a little smoke, and the hole underneath looks a bit weird.

Like I said, it almost looks like they did it with a small charge of something, but I'm not sure.

They might have shot at it with something from above or below, that would explain the hole.

Also what proof is there that the computer was hooked upto the moniter, notice the mouse didnt move on the sceen, could have just been photoshopped and set as background image.

Say they kept it really low, underclocked like, and then just set it right before it blew.

At the end of the video, take note that the CPU doesn't even look burnt. It looks like it has been shattered by an impact.

I don't even know what happened. Are these guys saying that the processor exploded due to heat build-up after removing the fan? If so, that's absurd. Things don't heat up to such a temperature that they explode in one second and don't even look burnt. The fan wasn't even spinning ffs.

Yeah theres just a evenly cut hole there, with no sign of any splinters or parts of it.

i think the hole in the table was used to shoot the cpu with something like a pellet gun or a small charge. It also seems the locking lever for the cpu wasnt engaged.

There is a hole in the plywood table under the motherboard. Now if the hole got there from the explosion then wouldn't the CPU socket be damaged? The socket cannot be stronger than plywood.

I do. A fried motherboard + fried athlon 2000+ processor :)

one day ill turn it on with no heatsink outside and see what happens :D (if i plug it in and turn it on [with heatsink attached] it does get hot so there's power going through it).

i would have expected the mobo to jump across the room before penetrating nearly an inch of table

Wow, I remember this video from a month or two ago on my other computer forums.

Its a fake, and the guys were just having some fun, the CPU-Z stats obviously show that.
