yes i had this problem with the first KOTOR 1

there was a work around its to do with ATI cards which I'm assuming you have

now this may or may not work coz it worked for KOTOR 1 don't know about 2 i haven't had any crashes yet maybe because im using the same thing I'm about to mention

By simply using the Catalyst 4.2 OpenGL Driver combined with a later driver e.g 4.7 one can play KotOR flawlessly.

How to do that:

1. Download the Catalyst 4.2 Driver and another of your choice, preferably any one after 4.5
2. After downloading the drivers. Uninstall your current one.
3. After rebooting install the Catalyst 4.2 Driver. Reset.
4. When you are back in Windows, go to your C:\Windows\System32\ and copy the file: atioglxx.dll to a safe location.
5. Uninstall the 4.2 Driver and reboot.
6. Now install the latest driver or whatever your other choice was.
7. When you are back in Windows, simply copy the saved atioglxx.dll back to the C:\WINDOWS\System32 directory and replace the one already there

as i said KOTOR 2 it may or may not work
