one of these preacher guys was on TV this morning
offering to send blood-of-Jesus red, anointed prayer handkerchiefs to anyone who called.
Of course I assumed this is another stupid bastard trying to get rich by preying (praying) on other stupid bastards...as he is one of those 'god wants you to have a cadillac and a 10,000 square-foot house, etc etc' people
which pisses me off.
So I decided to call and see how much it was for one of these things.
but they just had an automated thing to get your name, address, etc...

I guess they're free?

anyway
this crazy fucker also has a website.
http://kerneythomas.org/home.html
so...I'm really tempted to get one, but I wonder what the catch is

and there was a point to this thread.
I may have missed it slightly.

I say go get one, and analyze it, and if it turns out to be pigsblood or something, then sue the fooker for dissing jesus.

it really makes me sick.
the big churches basically do the same thing on a larger scale, and they're way more slick about it...but people like this prey on mostly the poor and ignorant/helpless.

I think I should've posted this in the 'take out a city block' thread

Meh, organized religion is for suckers, especially that kind of religion.

And since it's a bout faith we can't do anything about it, they believe what they believe, and they have to realize it isn't right themselves, otherwise they'll just move on to the next liar if this one is exposed as a fraud.

You just have to let this one slide, and hope that they'll one day get it.

Is it just me or does the whole thing seem too tacky to be plausible? Why would anyone even give this a second thought?

It's probably real enough.

It's kinda' like this other thing (http://www.kidsagainstdrugs.com/Brownies.htm) I found before.

The mind boggles when one tries to work out how they can think this kind of thinking is a good thing, but nevertheless there are idiots out there who like it.

In certain places in the world people just don't seem to appreciate the value of logic, and whatever twisted versions of it they do use instead of common sense are quite insane.

Hilarious

SGG would have eaten them saying "if I get ill its your fault and I'll tell".

These little homilies only work if the other people respond as you hope. If they don't then the poop hits the brownies.

The reason I made the connection is this (http://boards.heartlight.org/ubb/Forum16/HTML/000082.html).

I still can't figure out if they are trying to be serious.

It would appear to be serious - although the actual brownies may only be an illustration rather than a genuine gourmet article.

Yeah, but it's a stupid attempt at a parable.

It seems, I don't know, naive and oversimplified.

The kids want to watch a movie with some foul language and a bit of violence?
Solution: Lace cookies with dogshit

There are parts of the christian ideology that are good, but idiots like this emphasise the bad parts by not thinking things through, just like the good money-grabbing reverend makes christianity look bad by using it to make a profit, or power or whatever he's after.
