I`ve just put Xp OS on my computer and updater my mother board drivers dnd the graphics card drivers. Is it a good idea to update the bios as well.????

I`ve just installed the ltest version of flashmenu and the date in there says 8/20/2004.So i gather this was the last time updated the bios because i was having trouble with high temperatures and when i updated thay were gone. :01:

I have a abit NF7-S mother board and there is an updated but is it nessasary.????

Thanks in advance. :D

If it aint broke don't fix it! What does the bios update include? If it has a cpu upgrade or the like and you don't plan on installing why bother. Example is my mobo can support a higher cpu , with a bios update . But I don't plan on doing that ................ so . My bios is two years old and its fine (asus mobo ) .

Example: Version 27 supports sempron cpu's . In other words if you don't need it
don't .

This is all the upgrade says.

1. This BIOS version is for NF7 & NF7-S Revision: 1.0~1.2 only!
2. (For Revision 2.0, please click here)
3. Hid "CPU Disconnect function" default to AUTO.
4. BIOS compile date: 09/10/2004

I think its a software fix for cpu overheating . Check cpu temps in bios or a program like Sisoft Sandra , or Everest Home . :)

I think that that cpu bus disconnecting lets the CPU run at a lower voltage while it's idle so the temp goes a lot lower :) (by somehow disconnecting it from the north bridge or something like that).

sort of like this program: s2kctl (http://www.stargaz0r.nm.ru/) - which doesn't work with my motherboard. :crying:

Think of it like Windows Update...
We dont really need all that crap but we do it anyway!!

Your system is working fine. Don't update unless it's needed.

Agree'd, iv lost a mobo before because of an update of the BIOS. In my opinion never update BIOS, Firmware or Drivers unless the device is not working properly. Why bother going through the trouble when everything is working perfect.
