Can anyone tell me what this error means? It comes up when I boot up my pc. This is the second time I've seen it but it didn't come up in consecutive instances. The last time I saw it was a few days ago.

Also, the time that's listed on the error looks to be the approx time (maybe the exact time) that I last shut down my pc.

Dunno what's casusing it mate, but I can say I have someone's computer in my kitchen on which I'm trying to track down the same thing. It's a completely fresh XP-SP2 install with only Symantec Client Security installed.
I have a horrible feeling it's a repair install job for me.

I'm not too sure about this but I think the Generic Host... is the clock trying to synchronize with an internet time server.

Try clicking the clock and disable the internet time to see if the error stops.

Heh, I'll check that out in a minute...

I've done the repair install and Windows Automatic Updates crashed out for no reason. Random shit like this has led me to RAM in the past so Memtest86 had a look and showed me crap all over the single stick, in both slots.

Just grabbed the slowest DDR stick from my own comp to get the thin outta my house and seemed to bugger my own up. :(
Had POST hang unless I moved the stickes around, instant reboots once in Windows, and a horrible worried feeling in my gut.
