Some British towns are considering a tax on chewing gum, to be used to

clean the streets and public places people leave their gum..............

Why now??? When in some places the steets are allready paved with

gumstains...........

It's one of those pollutions that allways amazed me......

When i walk in front of a trainstation or one of the platforms i am allways

baffled so many people just spit out their gum instead of throwing it away

properly in a waistbin.

I suggest not only a 50% tax on gum(instead of the one penny/pack

suggested suggested in England........), but also a thousand dollar fine on

gum littering!!!!

Dissgum!!

My science teacher told us that because the action of chewing gum makes the stomach produce more acid as a reflex, it's likely to cause ulcers as their is nothing swallowed to neutralise the acid produced.

That's the sort of thing that sounds logical and could scare people - like kids - into not chewing gum -- I'm sure it's bollocks tho'.

I hate people who leave their used gum in the ashtray, from both a smokers and a bar maids point of view.

Also people who spit it out, without a thought to whichever poor ickle animal will try to eat it, or human has to clean it up. Centreparcs refuses to sell gum at all. Hoorah for them. :01:

I threw a bit of chewed gum at my friends hair once. We had to cut it leaving her with a dodgy do. Never admitted to it though. :shifty:

I've got the guy's version of those, don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Was too busy trying to chat up the salesgirl to remember how much they cost. :01:

I want a pair.
Then I could be as tall as everyone else. :01:

Bet they take forever to put on in the morning though.

Emdee
02-24-2005, 01:11 AM
The guys version's a little more cut down and doesn't go anywhere near that high.

They're comfy enough, just a bit on the heavy side (as you can imagine).

Lilmiss
02-24-2005, 01:18 AM
Are your ones platflorms, Emdee?

I like the ones transparent soles and springs inside.
Although I'd settle for a nice paif of dm's if Biggles is buying. :shifty:

Emdee
02-24-2005, 01:24 AM
Na, I'd show you a pic, but it doesn't look like they sell them anymore :(

They look kinda like these (http://www.cloggs.co.uk/invt/212) but with springs fastening them instead of straps and laces.

Lilmiss
02-24-2005, 01:32 AM
Oooooo....I like them too.

But yeah, they do look pretty heavy.
I may have trouble running away in those. :ermm:

Yeah but with boots like those you don't have to run away from anything.

You can stomp all over whatever's chasing you. :01:

What if it was you chasing me in your boots?
I'm sure your feet are bigger than mine.

Emdee
02-24-2005, 01:45 AM
You gonna give me reason to chase you then? :P

Sadly guys tend to be more vulnerable to a kick in the crotch area, so I can't see that being too much of a problem. :pinch:

tossing gum away is boring.
gum is sticky.
I thnk there's a natural desire to stick it to something when you're done with it.
some places I've gone have walls or special board thingys where everybody sticks their gum.
after a while it looks cool, and people seem to like adding to the collection :P

me and my friends in year 8 stuck our gum on the radiator, and it started to melt into a face !!

i have to say that i do occasionally spit gum out but only when there isnt a bin about, and if i dont spit it out then i start to choke and will inevitably die

ps. fruity gum sucks cos the taste goes away too fast
