In early 2003, the members of several file-sharing news sites, ZeroPaid, Slyck and P2PForums, were greeted by an interesting press release. The press release was issued by an unknown organization dubbed “EarthStation5.com.” The client was released to the public a few months later in June. Amid much fan fair, the name “EarthStation 5” quickly spread across various file-sharing forums. With its assurance of anonymity and popularity of its name, EarthStation 5 (ES5) was off to a promising start.

Read this on Slyck the other day :D Shame I didn't think to post it then :(

Anyway, yep - Have a (microscopic) tear for it but it should have been dead months ago.

Doubt anyone around at the time forgot about the crap they sent. But there were some memories - Anyone else remember Paul's reply to the ES5 fanboys' spamming by posting their IPs & ISPs and going "Now fuck off"?

sharepro was about 20 people who went around promoting esv, flaming, exagerating their hardware quoting false user base numbers, raping, pillaging and making death threats against random nut.

they actually had a few really nice features planned that only just found there way into freenet and other secure p2p apps. Its just a shame their admin was just completly full of shit.

Yeah - I remember trying to convince those on both sides (more on ES5's sides though) to calm it a bit because the flame war seemed to be getting infernoish.

Without trying to be racist, it seemed like SharePro was trying to stage a jihad for P2P  Maybe he was full of shit & honey nut loops - I swear he was as loopy as he ws said to be

its a wound refreshing artical, at that time many things happend to this board(Dead of Klite, Retirment of Paul and Vb, some Old members Left).
and wasnt our forum member "KAB" releted to all this story in some way and thats why he was banned from the ES5 board?

He was accused by SP as being a member of the Secret Society.

I honestly can't remember what happened with it, but I don't think he was banned over it.
