View Full Version : Nero Burn Fails 99%

Anyone else ever have problems with Nero failing at 99%? I've had like 12 DVD's fail like this in the last 2 days. DVDDecrypter burns them just fine, but it only works for ISO not DVD's that are broken down into vob's and ifo's.

I downloaded the newest firmware for my drive as well. Downloading the new 6.6.0.8 update, hoping it will help.

Anyone know anything else that I might try?

use DVD-rw's until you know it works again ;)

dunno what the problem could be :(

What does the LOG say?

Are you burning over the maximum capacity of the media?

Damnatory

Nope, not overburning the capacity, the DVD's are from alt.binaries.dvdrs they are always the right size. :D

I would use a RW but I only have the -r's...

Here's what the log says about the last attempt. Maybe you can make better use of it than me...

You may want to make an image from the vob files and then just use Alcohol to mount and test and then to write...

With what prog? Nero is being gay... Can Alcohol create image files from files on your HDD? If so how?

R u gettin an actual error message???

I've had Nero stick on 99% with DVD-R a few times, for like 5/10 mins then eventually finish burnin' the disc...dont throw the towel in so easy!!!

Damnatory

Yeah, I'm actually getting the error messages... Even turned off the burn fail sound of people "boo'ing" cause it was starting to rake my nerves... lol

I just noticed on this last failed attempt, it jump from lik 70% to 99% and stayed there for like 5 minutes before failing...

Also, upgraded to 6.6.0.8, no change in performance, at least not for me.

i hate nero it always fails for some reason or another

It looks like it could be a faulty batch of media. I had a similar problem with a spindle of 4X Memorex DVD+R. Try other brands and try burning at slower speed.

If nero fails chances are other programs are going to fail if you do the exact same thing. :frusty:

well...i dont know about that....
either that or i dont know what you mean by that :P
because for the last year i couldnt use nero for nothin
multiple builds of nero, same results
nero failed, alcohol always worked
now alcohol fails and nero 6.6.0.6 is doin all my burning
and ive used the same media (brand) the whole time, memorex and maxell
this is gonna sound funny, but i think it was my mobo/chipset
MSI/KM266....alcohol pwned nero
Gigabyte/nForce2.....nero pwns alcohol now
i mean, its the ONLY change i've made

The simplest way would be to use DVDShrink, open folder and select make ISO then...

Hmm, as sad as it sounds, I haven't tried it on a slower burn speed... Maybe that will help. I'll try that.

If not I suppose I'll have to try the image creating thing RealitY said.

I'll let ya know. ( thanks by the way )

02-25-2005, 05:23 PM
Hmm, well they seem to burn fine if I burn them at half the speed... 4x It's a pain in the ass, as it takes like 20 minutes to burn, but at least im not wasting DVDr's anymore...

Anyone know what could cause a problem like that? They were burning perfectly fine at 8x on this machine for like 3 weeks, now all of the sudden I have to use 4x? Could the constant stress of burning DVD's be decadent to the drive?

I just recently had a similar issue with writing cdrs for music and have no idea why also...

It's the media that isn't "perfect".
