I'd like to be able to crop an mp3 file i've got that is too long. The song ends but the first few seconds of the next song were left in by the person who ripped the song... Forgive me if this has been posted before, did a search and didnt see it in the faq! Any way to do this?

mp3DirectCut is a small tool for editing MPEG audio directly. You can remove parts, change the volume, split files or copy regions to new files. All without the need to decompress your MP3. This saves work, encoding time and disk space. And there is no quality loss through any re-compressions. mp3DirectCut is very fast and gives you extensive control over your MP3s.

Thanks a bunch! Perhaps a mod will see this and add it to a faq :)

i doubt it since its not that "frequently asked"
besides if they did, they would probably recommend some bloatware like dBpoweramp

another great open-souce, free app for editing wav, mp3, and other files is Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/).
it can merge, split, copy, cut, add effects to, and other stuff...export to wav or mp3 (if you have a lame or other encoder), etc.
