More on the Next Sith Trailer
Where, when, and what.
March 01, 2005 - As expected, the official Star Wars website has been updated with an announcement regarding the first full-length trailer for Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. While Lucasfilm is eager to get its paying website subscribers an early peak at the footage, it will be television viewers who get the first look – viewers of the Fox network, naturally.
The Sith preview will air sometime during the March 10th showing of The O.C., which starts at 9:00 ET/PT. After the broadcast that evening, the trailer will become available online to subscribers of Hyperspace as well as to AOL customers through Moviefone.com. If you're not signed up for either service, find a friend who is and get ready for your first good look at the last Star Wars movie!
Nothing beats seeing Star Wars trailers on a big cinema screen, of course. It will be attached to copies of Robots, which opens the next day, March 11th. Theater managers can and sometimes do shuffle their trailers around, so check beforehand if you're dead set on seeing it.
The trailer will also be available for download to all StarWars.com visitors on March 14th.
So what can you expect from the new trailer? According to the official site, the running time will be over two minutes, consisting of all-new Revenge of the Sith footage. Jeditemppeli.net has the real scoop, however, with a long scene-by-scene description of all the new footage with dialogue. Obviously this information is not officially confirmed, but it seems credible. (Warning: some spoilers follow!) To give a brief narrative of the trailer, it begins with Anakin becoming a close pupil of the Chancellor, who makes Anakin his personal representative to the Jedi Council. A schism develops between Anakin and the other Jedi, and when the Jedi finally wise up to Palpatine's tricks, Anakin must choose one side or the other. The action becomes more intense as the trailer progresses, with Palpatine giving sinister orders and the Jedi getting hemmed in by enemies on all sides. Space battles alternate with blaster fights and lightsaber duels, and the trailer reaches a climax with Obi-Wan and Anakin squaring off
