Alright, I'm giving a speech in English class over The History of The Internet, it has to be 5-8 minutes long...and I have no clue where to start. I give the speech Friday, and I have to hand in an outline Friday before I give the speech...anyone know where I can get some good info? :frusty:

If everyone used Google for all of their problems, then there wouldn't be a use for this forum, now would there?

You could start by missing that lesson :)

however if you dont want to do that you could talk about how the internet came about blah blah etc.

I do stuff like that just about every morning, so quick tip

As soon as you decided what subject you'll be using just answer the next following questions:

What is it?
Why does it exist?
How does it work?
And when does it work/is it being used?

You'll never get any other question than that.

So start with what, move on to why, then go to how, finish with when and ask if there are anty questions.

Simple as that :D

Here is tid bit:

The internet was developed by men who wanted to view porn from the privacy of their homes. They wanted an anonymous way to view images of all variety without fear of pubic ridicule or judgement. They were tired of the embarrassment of placing a copy of "ass masters" on the counter and looking the store clerk in the eye.

People say, "The internet, what's the motivation?" There you go.

Yes, that is intentional ;)

ARPANET, HTTP, Tim Berners-Lee, W3C, Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, browser wars, offshoots like IRC & instant messaging, spyware & viruses, use of internet for online gaming, Napster, Mozilla

Research those topics and you should easily have enough :D Other than that, try HowStuffWorks. :)

It is probably worth mentioning that Bill Gates did not think it would catch on. Simply because it is fun to mention it. :shifty:
