because i can - i download stuff i otherwise wouldn't buy. i've actually started to buy more DVDs, music, and comics because i downloaded some things and have expanded my palette. So 'Because I don't want to pay $$$ for something I might not like' is most valid for me in this poll.

I read in my local newspaper (The Metro) that people who download shit loads of music, films ect, are more likely not to buy music and films or whatever, even if it wasent available to download.
Well B4 I discovered the all mighty internet, I dident pay for anything, infact what I did was copy CDs off friends onto tape lol oh the good old dayz:)

I went round to all pc shops and asked if they had a program to get it back
all they said was look on the web

I also download mainly because I can - I often download something just because I don't want to leave my downstream idle overnight. I also like the thought of sharing information freely.
Altho' with regard specifically to music and films, option three applies.

My mother trips out on that.
" you can talk to people from other countries "
" all people do is talk about is porn "
"they better not "
Should have been multiple choice.
1-4 all apply at different times for me.
But like darth says, I think I also buy more because I download.

i dont think cost is really a good excuse because in the last few years, probably all down to broadband making it easy to download; cd albums have dropped from about £15 to £10 and games from £45 to about £30.
Depends on how much you wanna' buy, don't it?
Games still aren't cheap, btw.

Yeah video games aren't cheap what so ever, so fucking over priced. But anyway the option that would apply to me , would be the first one..

I download because I don't want to waste money on something I might not like. If I like it, I'll eventually buy it. If I don't like it, at least I didn't waste my money on something I'll never watch/listen to.

because it makes me feel naughty :naughty: wait, no it doesn't so stfu
i download telly progs because it's the only way i'll get to see them soon, rather than wait a year for the dvd releases. i do purchase box sets from time to time, but at two or three seasons a week it would be pretty expensive.
other than mastersystem roms, pr0n, some music and the odd film, that's about it really
so to summarize, because manker told me to :ermm:

The whole world is never going to pirate a game or movie, so untill the makers reduce prices they will have to live with poorer sales. Put the prices down, people won't pirate it, more people will buy you item.

Yeah same here, when Star wars episode 1&2, Grand theft auto vice city, and and some music cds from artists i like, came out, i didnt have the urge to go/pay to listen/watch these with my own money (I was like 13-14 yrs old back then). This was before i learned how to pirate stuff. Now today i download shit loads of stuff for free. In conclusion, even if no downloading were available, i would have no interest to pay to see/listen to mainstream stuff with my own money. BTW Im an unemployed 16 year old student :P
