picked up a tube of AS5, then saw this browsing around at their homepage:

Important Reminder:
Due to the unique shape and sizes of the particles in Arctic Silver's conductive matrix, it will take a up to 200 hours and several thermal cycles to achieve maximum particle to particle thermal conduction and for the heatsink to CPU interface to reach maximum conductivity.

that'll take me about a month to see any real results

the temp could get maybe 2-3 degrees cooler over than 200 hours.
nothing that noticeable from my experience.

yeah i read that about it
if it works out that way, i should be running sub-40C (40-42 ATM)
havent had a CPU that cool since my vantec aerocool hs/f (about 38c on an athlon xp 2400+)
and i used the plain old white silicone paste on it, on a faster CPU

hehe, actually this is my second application of AS5
the first applicatin went tits up, CPU ran up to about 47C
i just dabbed it on with the syringe, kinda smeared it around,
didnt pay attention to wether or not i had touched the contact surface,
all the shit that AS's site tells you NOT to do basically :P

yeah, that was on a h/s without a copper core,
but that same h/s used to keep my athlon xp at around 41-42C
the current h/s is twice as big, has a copper core,
and an 80 mm fan as opposed to a 60 mm
as well as a better case with more cooling
and i am still having to buy a 10 dollar tube of AS5 to try to get sub-40 temps
and having to wait 200 hours to see if i can get there
