I've seen occasional references to cds that will hold over 80 min. of content but I can't seem to find them on the net or in stores.
Could anyone help me with a source? (US preferably, but not necessary)

http://www.cdrwinkel.com
http://www.cdfreaks.com

Both are for The Netherlands and Belgium only.

It doesn't help you much, but perhaps it's usefull for other people.

Best thing you can do is do a bit of searching for online shops in the US that are specialized in blank CDs and DVDs.

Both are Dutch. Both deliver only in The Netherlands and Belgium.

I posted this because other people (from those countries) maybe have the same question too.

Thanks for the responses folks.
Maybe it's time I bought a DVD burner and just solve this prob the easy way.
The people at my local Best Buy barely know what a cd is... B)

You just need to ask for

Infiniti 99min cdr (830mb data size)

u can burn these to 99mins 17 secs

so if u tmpegenc a film to 98 mins, then burn with NERO, viola... u have a 99min single cd film

ooo
04-06-2003, 04:06 AM
eh get nero

over burn a 80min cd....

artmaster88

just search google with the words: cdr 1000MB/cd-r 1000MB/cdr 1GB/cd-r 1GB
that was just an example page. i've burned one 1GB disc. worked fine. i used overburn with nero and i've got an Aopen 52x24x52x burner, though not sure if teh RWing is 24x or higher.
i wouldn't do it if i have one of the older burner that still has like 24x12x24x, it didn't work with my mums(that's the specs she has, don't know company though) it only made all data on disc unreadable and the disc was useless.

I've heard that 90 minute+ CD-R's are unreliable. The data is packed so tight most CD and DVD players have trouble reading them. Can anyone here verify or dispute that?

No problems at all on my cheap DVD player.

Their durability will probably be not as long as a normal TDK/Taiyo Yuden manufactured 80 min CD.

strange, why do you guys ask for links when i posted one? you should read the whole post before posting stupid replys. also livy postet my link again. these are not only used for dreamcast. you can use them for computer games, too. but why waste the space if pc games are developed for 700mb? get your data/music on them. i bought a pack at my pc store (they had an add in the papers)... the 1gb discs worked finr in my discman, stereo system, and computer. my dvd-player didn't except them, but it won't except normal dvds too, so it might just be my busted dvd-player.
o yeah, i used google to find the page. be sure to use Google.com (http://www.google.com) or this funky Google page (http://www.elgoog.tk)
here's a link to my results:
RESULTS FOR PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE GOOGLE! (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=cdr+1GB)
and that's only the first page, you need to use the search funktion and not just say: find 1GB cdr so i can burn shit...
how hard is it?

OK, I'm not sure what's going on here. I found a site with a picture that says 1GB here:

http://www.cddimensions.com/cd-r_media/mtc...tc-al707bku.asp (http://www.cddimensions.com/cd-r_media/mtc-al707bku.asp)

But I also went to Mitsui's Web Site (http://www.mitsuicdr.com/products/cd_product_list.htm), and I couldn't find any mention of 1GB CD-R's. I don't really believe the discs can hold that much. Maybe that one product just comes with some kind of compression utility that lets you backup 1GB worth of data on a 700MB disc. But like I said, I'm really not sure.

ooo
04-09-2003, 08:19 PM
for 1000mb the disc would have to be large! bigger then normal cdrs

I have 99 and 100 minute cds.

99 min = 870 MB
