All j2's posts have disappeared.

Even if you click on a thread that he's started, his initial post is not there

I read in one of todays newspapers, a very reliable and "independent" one, that Israel has built a mock up of Irans' only nuclear reactor for the purpose of letting their pilots and special forces "prepare for a pre-emptive strike" on the facility in Iran. Apparently a source from the White House has said that it does not oppose any such strike.

Anyone else think this directly contradicts the road map for "peace" so gloriously displayed by George dubya???

Well i started it here to avoid spam...even though there are some light hearted posts.

J2 is one of the few people that i really enjoy debating with. We both get quite heated sometimes in public threads but get on well in PM even when the current topic has us pointing the home defense systems at each other.
The fact that I noticed anyone has gone shows the regard i have for him.

there are those of us that can come and go without being noticed or missed.... J2 is not one of them

Well, your odd theories are always appreciated, by me anyway. Post it, dave :01:

This is teh weird tho' - my non-weird theory is that the database has been corrupted, if that's the case I can't see it being fixed, despite 'back-ups being made every few hours'.

I noticed this in the Iran thread yesterday.

I thought he left and requested a deletion of his posts.
Then I thought he changed his name but his count would have stayed.

Who knows?

I think we'll see him around.

If he has left, the forum will be a poorer place. :(

I imagine that his account or the board was hacked and his threads maliciously deleted and I would imagine geezagonk did it as the two were in disagreement last time I checked.I don't think so. The geezagonk thing is a coincidence as even tho' j2's name is on the end of the Iran thread, there are now only 2 replies and not the three stated when you look at the reply column.

j2's name is still on all of his threads, as thread starter, and his name appears when he posted last - it's just that his posts are completely gone.

The only possible explanations are that j2 requested all his posts deleted - like muchspl2 did recently - or that his account has been 'lost' due to a database failure, like what happened to Gemby and baccyman some months ago.

I favour the latter.

If J2's record* was accidently deleted then there would be nothing in the database to cross-reference to. That could account for the apparent 'disappearance' of posts and threads. If would also mean that J2 could not open his own account.

* Contains -Account Name and link, number of posts, sig link, avatar link etc.
That is on the assumption that databases are still constructed in the same way as they were 5 years ago. :)

He might have thought he had been banned/moderated and according to the rules:

11. If you get placed on 'Moderation' or a 'Ban', do not circumvent that action by creating another account. Doing so can result in a permanent ban to all accounts.

J2K4, the remark I made about Germany and Jews in the other thread has been taken the wrong way. It was meant to read as the money the Bush dynasty made fom Nazi Germany, not the Jewish community.

Fuck.

I hate to say this, but my belief system hinges on an ability and opportunity to figure out who the pricks are, and to deal with them in kind-that just doesn't exist in this instance.
As a small and let's admit it, somewhat third-worldish forum, we were unable to lease a petard large enough to hoist you from.

MCHeshPants420
03-16-2005, 01:29 AM
No point in that.

Likely it was a hack-job, secure as this board is.

If it wasn't, I don't believe word of it would find me, do you?

If someone did hack the board (as extremely unlikely as that is) then it should show up on the logs still. At the very least he needs to check because if there is a security issue then it needs to be addressed else we'll be losing people's posts every time someone pisses off this mystery hacker.

If it's a mod playing silly buggers then they need to be de-modded.

In all honesty I suspect faulty board software, this forum is bug-ridden and Brian (by his own admission) doesn't know the full ins and outs of it. The only reason I can think that a bug would target you in particular is that your join date is a lot earlier than everyone elses, maybe a large post count coupled with the early join date somehow caused a glitch which deleted you? I dunno I'm just theorizing...

btw Can the admin not find a way to get the posts back from the back-up? I'm sure it's possible...

KILLER BISCUITS WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

(the actual AP headline)

Linda Burnett, 23, a resident of San Diego, was visiting her in-laws and while there went to a nearby supermarket to pick up some groceries.
Several people noticed her sitting in her car with the windows rolled up and with her eyes closed, with both hands behind the back of her head. One customer who had been at the store for a while became concerned and walked over to t he car. He noticed that Linda's eyes were now open, and she looked very strange. He asked her if she was okay, and Linda replied that she'd been shot in the back of the head, and had been holding her brains in for over an hour.

The man called the paramedics, who broke into the car because the doors were locked and Linda refused to remove her hands from her head. When they finally got in, they found that Linda had a wad of bread dough on the back of her head.

A Pillsbury biscuit canister had exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot, and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head. When she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and thought it was her brains. She initially passed out, but quickly recovered and tried to hold her brains in for over an hour until someone noticed and came to her aid.

Linda is a blonde, but I'm certain that's not relevant

Pro-Syrian Lebanese Government resigns en masse...
This is kinda significant, eh?

Did the U.N. do something?

What could possibly have prompted this?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,148962,00.html

Syrian forces have been in Lebanon nigh unto 30 years, vid.

Why do you think this is happening now?

Actually (since you asked), YES!

If Lebanon had need to be occupied, and the choice were mine to make, I'd pick Israel over Syria in a heartbeat.

If the Syrian occupation force is to leave Lebanon, who should guarantee Lebanon's sovereignty?

Who will, if it comes to that?

Yes, yes, I'm quite sure an Israeli occupation of Lebanon would cause massive outrage in all corners of the mideast.

I was speaking hypothetically.

Funny-

The entire Muslim world preaches the sin of the Christian/Zionist infidel, and much of the rest of the world agrees, quaking in it's collective boots at the prospect of Western religious fervor and all it's ramifications, but nobody seems too upset by fanatic Islamicists, at least from a religious standpoint.

Nobody wants to be bombed, but I wonder why western Christianity is regarded as a greater evil than fundamentalist Islam, which is as expansive as Soviet Communism, but somehow much more acceptable.

(Or at least able to dreg up some stuff from the wayback-machine..)

I may not often agree with you j2, but now I don't have any late-night entertainment. ;)

If the board was backed-up daily (as was recently stated), I don't see why your posts couldn't be restored. It'd be very queer to have all the backups similarly affected. I'm hoping it was "just" a software glitch.

:shuriken:

RealitY

I dont even think a mod can do this as the posts have not been deleted as a mod would since they would still be visible to all mods in a soft delete. If they are deleted permentaly in the mod option then the post count of the poster is reflected thus the post count would have been set back to zero then. I think theres is something within the join date that may unravel this perhaps. The only other thought I can have on this is to do a board backup to before the loss of all the posts but this would in turn lose all posts posted from then untill now...
