just a quick question what software do I need to record movies from VCR to on my computer what does it save it as? do i need a tv out thing or what do I need?

first you need either a vidoe card that has video capture capabilities or a video capture device.

as for the software pretty much any high end video editing rogram will allow you to capture and export to a variety of formats ;)
