Crazy downloading speed.... [Archive]

Hi,

Today i downloaded couple of movies from ET (R.I.P now)...and the downloading speed was absolutely crazy…I downloaded a 750MB movie in only 25 minutes….and the other movie was 520MB or so which was downloaded in only 17 minutes…I couldn’t believe when I saw the downloading speed going on way over 520 Kb/s.

I have adsl connection and this has never happened before….its just crazy. I hope I get this speed in the future as well.

Just thought of sharing my experience!

when you use torrents from sites like ET, FileList or Torrentbytes its normal that you download with full-speed :)

OK so the movie(s) were downloaded at 520Kb/s+ speed, but for some reason the uploading speed in only 9-10 KB/s.

I have set the upload speed to 50 Kb/s, and still its only going around 9-10 KB/s. Why is that?

Yeah, for something that downloaded that fast, there's probably a large amount of seeders and all the leechers will have it done in no time as well.

Yeah, there's too much seeders (uploaders) and there's too few leechers downloading that file. So in other in other words there's really not ehough leechers connected to you so your upload speed wont be at full speed, because it isnt neccessary.
Anyway download speed is another reason why private torrent sites ( those that require registering) are the best.

thats some nice uploading speed, hope its not PS'd.

I've had a download speed of 1MB/s from I think it was torrentspy from when I was downloading farcry. 4 gigs done in approximately an hour. My cable modem was heating up rofl.

Yea, it's great and scary at the same time...the seeding can take forever at ET.

I jumped on a low SLR (seed-to-leech ratio) pron torrent and got it back up...my ratio that is. :)

thats what u get on private trackers, u download ur file at max speed but u wont be able to upload it at max, the only way to max out ur upload is when that file gets released, as soon as they get released there will be lacked of seeders so any lil bit helps to seed.

You say that as if it were a bad thing. To me that's just the reason why private trackers work so well. People are so eager to share that you can download a file in no time flat. If you're having trouble keeping your ratio up, then you can always throttle your download speed to match or be a little bit less than your upload speed. It's certainly better than getting into a swarm with a bunch of leechers and no seeds and having the torrent die out before you can finish the download.

I don't always pay attention to my d/l speeds, but just now I was getting an album at close to 400kbs. Faster than I've ever seen before.

on time off of ET I downloaded 4.5 gig in about 2.5 hours and I thought that was smokin but some of yours speeds are crazy. On torrentbytes I usually am able to get speed between 500-600 kb/s. :w00t: :w00t:

Well I'm not sure....but the fastest speed that i have seen is 523Kb/s.....its FAST!!!!!!!

Its quite common if you are downloading from Private torrent sites. But provided that
1: You have ADSl or Cable connection
2: There are lot of seeds (upl) for that particular torrent

Then the download speed will go crazy...........

I have ADSL and my dad pays around $43 CND for the connection.....its expensive, but worth it!
Not sure how much Singa pays....but it should be close to that...

$43 is expensive?! Still the CND makes a little difference but still?! Expensive? You can't possible call that expensive with that connection of yours :S

But I assume that CND = Canadian Dollars?

holyshit......where u live man? thats just a rip off....

Dude, that's the normal prices in Denmark :p And it's even considered CHEAP, as it's a business subscription (Thank thy lord!). So actually private individuals would most likely pay at least the double the price I pay for my connection. But this is soon the be changed... I hope :shifty:

But I guess you haven't heard of our taxes in Denmark, eh? Lemme give you a hint: 45-60% :D

i've got 2mb/256kb but thats just standard in northern ireland. my isp boosted me from 512Kb to 2Mb for free. There is a 4mb and 8mb service coming soon though

Well I don't know exactly the speed of my pipe, but I can download at a maximum of 190 kB/sec and upload at around 45-50 kB/sec.

So I'm guessing that's around 1.5mb/512kbps... right?

You really dunno what that is?

A computer that has a complete copy of a certain torrent. Once your client finishes downloading, it will remain open until you click the Finish button (or otherwise close it.) This is known as being a seed or seeding. You can also start a BT client with a complete file, and once BT has checked the file it will connect and seed the file to others. Generally, it's considered good manners to continue seeding a file after you have finished downloading, to help out others. Also, when a new torrent is posted to a tracker, someone must seed it in order for it to be available to others. Remember, the tracker doesn't know anything of the actual contents of a file, so it's important to follow through and seed a file if you upload the torrent to a tracker.

But in my university i use i suppose 100/100Mbps, it is a shared connection so i'm not sure. I use it to seed and keep my ratio as high as i can 3-4. I've reached like 1-2MB/s download and upload speeds there :w00t:

When I'm downloading from a well seeded torrent, I get steady speeds of ~500 kb\sec, and max ever seen is 600 kb\sec (lineage2.com has an awesome line).
Oh btw, I pay $60 (395 NOrwegian Kroner , which is actually very cheap)/month for a 384kbps/384kbps wireless internet.
Now you can bet various anuses that I did NOT tell my ISP about this little "problem" with my net connetion... harrharharr XD

Man, I'm from Bulgaria. I don't live there right now but i wish i did. There are 100Mbps LAN's there with servers that has any release you like. I don't know the LAN's bandwidth to the Internet but i bet is rather fast maybe 100Mbps too (symetric) so if you can't find what you're looking for on the server you just use bittorrent or any other P2P. There are normally limits of traffic but if you pay a little more there isn't any. And a little more is much less than the 40€ i pay here in Spain for a 2Mbps/256Kbps :cry:

Try any of the private trackers (the bigger ones). Filelist, pisexy, torrentleech, torrentit... They all have good dw speeds, but i dont know if any of them is open for sign ups

Thats not always true. I lived only yards away from someone who had DSL, but wasn't able to get it myself. Cable was also available about 6 miles away, but not into my development. It wasn't until Brighthouse bought out the crappy little developments cable company and ran lines that both became available in my home. And thats mostly because Sprint wanted to cut inot some of brighthouses revenue, bastards wouldn't do anything before...

try any private popular torrent site, you will get pretty good speeds. But getting a membership to private sites can be hard.

download managhers r used for ftp/http download... u just need a good tracker were users upload a lot and so u will get resonable speeds :)... and yes getting a mermership to a good tracker (private) is quite hard because they have user limits or they just let people in with invites, and so on... this is the best way to make users upload and so the tracker's users get good speeds :)

Well for one Private torrents sites are invites only. But on rare occasions they open for public sign ups......

that's why it's so hard to maintain a decent ration on sites like oink--everybody's trying to get upload credit, so there're always a ton of seeders and very few leechers.
