I have a file on a friends machine that I would like to open when he turns his computer on. It is an Excel spreadsheet - he has XP.

Is there a way I can put the file into the Startup group so that it will open when he boots up ?

Thanks

and what exactly would be motivation for such a prank?
unless i am mistaken...excel files can be loaded with some nasty macros...

copy a shortcut to his startup folder
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Thanks Vargas.

And FKUDUP74 it is not a prank as my friends computer is nto connected to the net, its just that he is not computer literate and wants to access this file only.

Maybe you could just stick it in his autostart folder in the start menu.

You could make the document his wallpaper.
