i got 2000 SP4 and the very latest windows updates
my antivirus prog is Nod32 (virus database was upped yesterday)

when i start it up normally
after i login the computer just stops there
it dont freeze i mean i dont load anything up
so i press ctl+alt+del and i see explorer.exe loaded (only 3.4megs of mem
seems kind of light) but i dont see the explorer bar or start button

also in task manager when i click in file > new task
the box appears but the typing box is frozen
and so does taskman

i tried safe mode
that does the same

tried loggin in on a diff account
same thing

i used the 2000 boot disk repair features
no help at all

did a full dskchk (via F8 and command prompt)
nothing found

if somone knows a resolve please help
i really dont want to loose my registy settings again within 2months

Try an F8 bootup, "Last Known Good Configuration" & see if that helps.there is some info here aswell:

"Last Known Good Configuration" never worked
so any way i did a re-install (repair windows installation)
restarted windows
it worked ok
then restarted again it fecked up again

re-installed again
then uninstalled most of the start up progs like
Nod32
ZoneAlarm
& funny acting ATI Graphics Drivers

seems ok now...... i hope

You might want enable to Nod32 & ZoneAlarm again you need those at startup. Mabye your problem was the dodgy ATI drivers ? :ermm:
